so is the mk2 class compliant midi only or both midi and audio, especially now that the mpc had that usb class compliancy update?
I saw no mention of midi over USB from my brief skip through the manual, but audio to and from a computer/iPad is it’s main use from what I could see.
Surely it be an internal battery not the ones you use like the SP404SX. IN other words be like MPC live I thought with the internal battery?.
haha not worth it mate, wait if needs be but yeah be sensible. SInce god knows what is going to happen in the UK with everything going up so much.
But yeah jelly you got to see teebs
The SP-404MKII uses 6 AA batteries. No built-in battery.
I’m right to assume there’s no way to do a quantized recording? or was it possible to truncate the loop after recording it to match a certain number of bars?
I’m surprised they went that way
On the sp 404 you can quantise the beat beforehand, but not after. However, mostly likely they change it so you can afterwards. Is the manual online anywhere?
So dumb that it is fixed at 48khz, I like everything else about it, can’t be arsed to convert samples from everything else I have that uses 44.1khz (including other Roland gear like 101/707 which don’t support 48khz)
I guess I’m not. I keeps the cost down. Pretty bold for Roland to offer an update to the SX/A at a lower cost and with a lot more features. Especially at a time when a lot of manufacturers are raising their prices.
And there will always be the arguments for, or against a built-in battery. What happens when the battery fails someday? Is it user replaceable? But what happens when I am playing it at the park and the battery runs out and I am not near power and can’t put new batteries in? But a built-in battery is more streamlined and easier to use?
I think it would have been cool to have a built-in battery, but it’s not really a make or break thing for me. I invested in rechargeable AA’s a couple years ago for my Volca’s and whatnot.
When I saw him and Thundercat open for Flying Lotus in 2012 I saw Teebs break down his setup after his set, which consisted of a 404 and some cables he packed into a shoe box. I was already a huge fan but that moment was humbling.
omg people are hawking their grandmothers on the used market to get this thing, thank you, thank you, thank you Roland.
Powerbanks my friend.
Yeah, I definitely have one. I just don’t like to use it if I don’t have to. I still prefer internal batteries over power banks.
Looks like too much fun. Preordered and I never buy stuff new.
FlyLo and Teebs in 2012, nice! That would be the When the Quiet Comes and Ardour era respectively. I saw Teebs much later than that but was a great set. Seen FlyLo twice… Wasn’t mega into his live presence despite being a megafan of his music at the time. Anyway, that’s besides the point.
Back on topic - I may end up pre-ordering tonight or tomorrow, and I never buy things new either!
Tempted to do the same, and I NEVER but stuff new, lol.
I refuse to allow myself be influenced by so many of the leading youtube influencers filling up my mind with thoughts of purchasing this and triggering my natural contrarian reflex to not pre-order this.
So I’ve pre-ordered in an act of deliberate defiance to show I am still in charge.
Bought an MPC One a few weeks ago after concluding it would be better for me than the 404-SX…
Then this shows up
Promised myself I’d concentrate on my Mpc Live and Op-1s, but I pre-ordered from Guitar Guitar anyway. (£50.00 Deposit)
Not planning on using these together, just interested in having separate workstation when I’m looking for different workflows.
This might end up being for my Son, as he’s started showing an interest in my Mpc.
Someone please buy my Wavestate.
