Roland SP-404 Mk2 (Part 1)

Not that I have found. Just a leak.

I hope they do surprise us, and then I hope Elektron surprises us with slicing on the digitakt and model samples the day after

Meaning, I think it might be released on the 13th. That’s when the app says it is being released. So why would they release an app before the product?

here is the Roland cloud website news section :

now here is the leaked version of the Roland cloud news section :

Notice the dates on the leaked site … I feel like Sherlock Holmes

I don’t think that would happen. And all three boxes serve different purposes anyway. But it’d be funny. And I’d be into it.

This is what the people want. It’s what I want. I’m the people. And I hope they add something that we were led to believe was impossible the way that a second LFO wasn’t supposed to be possible on the DT.

I def think there’s more coming down the pike for the digitone, but the digitakt and the Roland SP-404 mk2 are about to do the tango for real

I don’t understand what this ‘leaked’ website is. Who are rvslabs.io? Just looks like a clone site.

the url looks like someone’s personal fun project, i doubt it’s legit

edit: on the other hand it looks exactly like roland, but i haven’t seen a public test site for new content from any major company

Based on a very quick look it looks like an extensive copy of the Roland site. So it could be a somebody took a copy and made tweaks but it might have taken a bit of effort to do it.

OTOH, the site name includes ‘uat’ which often means ‘user acceptance test’ so it’s plausibly genuine.

oh good to know, i figured mvc stands for model view controller, but uat didn’t ring a bell, so it truly might be some testing site. We will know on the 13th at the latest :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

If it is a fake, they’re having a lot of fun teasing …

Why wouldn’t they just set it up as a hidden page for testing?

Depends who is ‘testing’. If it’s people outside the development team (‘user acceptance testing’), they might well put it on a public (with but not easily guessable name) website.

BTW, I’ve not made up my mind one way or the other, just making observations.

Maybe it’s real.

RVSlabs is hosted or owned(???) by Cloudshare Crs.rvslabs.io has six IP numbers. The IP numbers are 2606:4700:10:...

Cloudshare is part of Roland’s tech stack https://www.zoominfo.com/c/roland-corporation/461599048

Or maybe they both just use Cloudshare as their servers?

After some digging I’m convinced it’s a legit site that they use for testing before updates are pushed into production. the Roland Cloud site and apps in this case.
the rvs in rvslabs likely stands for Roland Virtual Sonics btw.

FFS - why can’t Roland (and everyone else) stick to a sample rate? Some of their stuff is 44.1 then some is 48, proper PITA when wanting to use samples on gear with the other rate because it means conversion is needed.

Ironic that 48khz was initially chosen to be used in consumer DAT machines to prevent piracy/convenience of digital copies from CD. Still inconvenient today.

Don’t log in with a real Roland cloud account to RVSlabs!

I made fake burner accounts to try this but very possible this is a scam to capture user accounts!!

I made an account on RVSlabs using a burner email and I got the activation code sent from the Roland activation email service.
I then tried to login to RolandCloud with that login but it failed. I then created an account on RolandCloud using the burner email and got sent an activation code from the same Roland activation email address… I then tried to use that account on RVSlabs… failed to login. So looks like you need a unique account on RVSlabs which makes sense. The activation code coming from the same email makes me think this is legit and is their testing version.
