So sad to hear of Mark Hollis’s passing. I was introduced to Talk Talk through their brilliant album Laughing Stock, often overlooked compared with Spirit of Eden, and it really got through to me. My favourite track is Ascension Day, which never fails to floor me all these years later…

I never paid much attention to Talk Talk, other than noticing that they were always next to Talking Heads on the record-store racks.

I shall listen to both these albums on proper speakers today.

absolute masterpieces of music. spirit of eden is as much a left turn as ok computer to kid a. i always thought it was a shame that these albums are relatively obscure outside of music nerd circles
