Seiki Kato, long time Korg president and CEO as well as son of Korg founder Tsutomo Kato, has passed away at 67 following an unspecified illness (Feb 21st of 2025).
Thoughts are with his family and we hope that Korg’s company legacy will be carried on as innovators in their field after losing someone in such a pivotol role, unexpectedly, and at this relatively young age.
That’s a shame. It seems like Korg management let their teams bring a lot of interesting products to market, things only a synthesis nerd would even care about.

I burnt this incense earlier this week, but I wasn’t able to find a good opportunity to properly dedicate some incense to Seiko Kato today, so hopefully an atemporal dedication will suffice.
I’m guessing he helped make the microKORG happen and is therefore part responsible for my favourite synth part of all time.
