LEGEND and so much inspiration, thank you Florian for all you contributed to electronic music
I had the luck to see Kraftwerk three times - each time was unforgettable. The sound was extraordinarily good every time.
Paul Moreley was on the money when he said Kraftwerk were more influential than the Beatles. RIP
So strange, I listened to that Bowie tune just last night
Another one down. Fuck 2020.
RIP Florian.
Just seen this, tragic.
R.i.p florian schneider. One of my icons. 1st album I ever brought was the man machine by kraftwerk. Thank you for all the amazing music you gave us. One of the Godfathers of electronic music
What a seminal, wonderful band they were. Rest in peace, Florian.
This video, for me, sums up exactly how awesome Kraftwerkās music is.
I donāt think any of us would be here without him
still kinda blows me away that The Robots was 78āā¦so sick.
Amen.
fuuuuā¦favesā¦
forgotā¦
I might be in the total minority, but to me those early Kraftwerk tunes from 1970 sound almost more progressive than their later āblockbustersā. I especially like Florianās flute parts. RIP.
Does anyone know of any other musicians who when asked enthusiastically by David Bowie to collaborate responded āthanks, but no thanksā? Kudos of the highest order. And that rejection led to Bowie (and Eno and Fripp), much under the influence of Kraftwerk, to make the Berlin trilogy - IMO his best works (along with Scary Monsters)
Donāt get me wrong I think that concert is absolutely glorious. That was a month after Woodstock and the far more interesting showā¦and just one band. In 40 minutes they sow the seeds for so many future genres, itās mind boggling.
But their bigger works were a new, more fully realized musical language that was distinctly theirs (as opposed to ripping and tearing through Cage/Stockhausen) and much more influential (not saying betterā¦just more influential).
This music is freakān insane!!! Love it!!!
Even if Kraftwerk had never gone on to popularise their particular form of sleek electronic music, their first three or so albums would stand as kosmische classics.
I wish they would reissue those.
Pioneers
RIP
