Just to be clear : I avoid part changes in a song, I use sample locks and arranger scene changes in priority.
Otherwise settings common to several parts are PITA to set.

And there are buggy behaviors related to part changes…

Probably seems a paradox, but I’d probably use parts more if they were 256, and usable in any bank.

Another paradox : I had fun with a 64 steps pattern divided in 2 steps chunks, 32 parts (arranger, pattern iterations).

Randomize pages, fx types, add scenes…crazy results.

EDIT: jokes aside, I’ve watched some of this video and the big takeaway for me so far is that apparently you need a plugin tobounce in place in Ableton? Coming from Reaper that’s just mindboggling, I’m used to bouncing in place being one keystroke or two mouse clicks away at all times.

He also says it’s something he brought over from working on the MPC1000. The thing is, the MPC1000 is USB 1.0 so it really does save you a lot of time if you use an external card reader, but with the OT it doesn’t actually make much difference. I guess a USB 3.0 reader woul;d speed things up if you also have a fast card, but it’s only really going to save a few seconds (or a couple minutes if you’re transferring like 10gb of files or something).

He’s probably just assuming it’s slower due to being used the the MPC1k. It’s USB disk mode is 1.1 spec and incredibly slow. I switched from the 1k to the OT and was hesitant at first but quickly realized the disk mode is perfectly capable on the OT

exactly. and this applies to many aspects of the OT (and other machines). that’s why my first advice to new users is always “don’t be intimidated, and don’t try to learn it all at once. learn what you need to, as and when you need it to accomplish something; you’ll understand and remember it better that way.” and that’s basically what Ricky has done here. his typical usage never needed multiple parts, so he’s never fully understood them. now he does.

On my side I don’t use part because bank change is my preferred way of working.
I don’t feel the need of having a project completely full.

I have never seen the limitation of the static vs flex, I’m sure it exist but I have never push a static to it’s limit. Sure at some point the CF might hit it’s limit. But never suffered from that.

I have near never used more than two LFO on the OT per track.

I don’t use master track, I have used it to see what can be achieved but most of the time I don’t need it.

I don’t think my music will be better using all the Swiss Army knife of the OT. And I will enjoy more the OT by using those tool.
In the end my best track are made on my MPC or my Rythm with a workflow which use few functions of the box.

I’m convinced lots of great track are made on the OT with really simplified workflow.
In the end it’s the sample material which matter not being a master of all the details like Cenk do in it’s video.
When I listen to some of my MPC project it could have been easily done on the OT.

Clicky behavior or artifacts with STATIC if you change start/slice randomly with an lfo, crossfader, play from slice/slots trig modes…

No problem with plocked start/slices, sample locks.

Jokes aside, I can totally see how the OT is that complicated mystery machine for people that do not use it several days a week. There’s just so much going on inside you can focus on.

Great teachers create the illusion they are learning at the same pace as their students, being curious and amazed with their students. Watching some YouTube videos feels like live streaming because the editing is perfectly smooth. How many cameras? Lighting? Mistakes? Time spent in the editing room? The point of the video was to educate us about something. He’s pretending to be a student, to be us. He needs to slow down for us. If anyone believes he doesn’t know his stuff, then he is a great teacher.
