I learnt about this pedal from this video and subsequently ordered it.
I think itās 2.
The same dynamic is at play that caused Trump and flippinā Al Qaeda⦠itās got to get stupider and stupider and more outrageous to grab our attention. YouTube doesnāt want us selectively looking up videos when we want to find something specific that fulfils a need. The algorithm wants us hooked on videos of Muscles and Titties and Angry and Shiny and Expensive.
I donāt know, I get videos about audio production, film / crit lit, and trash drag and Iām not getting any of that content.
Have you tried choosing ānot interestedā from the recommendations pane?
It doesnāt intentionally have to be stupider and more outrageous, now I will absolutely agree that the worldview of techbros can be absolutely awful and toxic, their algorithms show who it thinks is āyouā what it āthinksā you want to see. This definitely leads to radicalization of lonely dudes, but the only āshiny and expensiveā Iām seeing are occasional reviews of synths Iām not interested in.
Also interesting is that the radicalization appears to go one way, with my economics videos Iām not getting more hardcore libertarian socialist, or even tankie stuff thrown at me (lol). All my suggestions are more reasonably moderately left-wing. Certainly moreso than the US, but thatās not saying a whole lot.
If this turned up anything good then please share!
If you like watching videos of grown men unboxing toy cars, give it a go.
Ricky stepped up and covered something I have experienced multiple times (with and without Elektron boxes). Iām glad he showed it (with a Model Cycles and Ableton Live) rather than me thinking I was always doing something wrong. Hereās his vid on USB midi ruining timing:
Edit: oh, YouTube embeds work again
Iām sure Iāve seen commentary on that video elsewhere on this forum.
EDIT: yup, here we go
why isnāt he using the midi i/o on his Focusrite? he doesnāt have another midi i/o option that he needs to buy a cheap one for this test? strange⦠also thereās LOTS of other things he hasnāt eliminated: USB hub being clogged up with too many devices, the audio interface, drivers, audio/midi setting conflicts, Ableton, etc⦠hell, I had USB audio glitching issues because of a bluetooth mouse and keyboard receiver being plugged into the same hub. how did I figure it out? you gotta narrow things down. but maybe thereās another set of 30 minute videos for each of the things he excludesā¦
I typically track in the fashion he mentions: each instrument is solo-ed and recorded, one by one. then detail edits are done in the DAW. I havenāt run into what heās going on about. but itās also a 1ms shift heās seeing, so maybe Iāve missed itā¦
he also mentioned the ERM multiple times (and even consulted John Tejada on it). but what heās experiencing is unpredictable behavior. you canāt use the ERM to nudge the timing to where youād like it if you canāt trust how much itāll be off on any given take.
of synth/gear YT-ers, I do like Ricky. but he cracks me up sometimes.
And is it a real test when you only do it with one Machine? From my experience, I had issues when syncing M:C via USB.
I tested tracking my Takt trough Oberbridge. When you multitrack all tracks at the same time, shift will come after 29 bars. The good news is, the tracks will shift all together in sync .
So Overbridge is preaty stable.
I have only the Digitakt connected to my 2018 MacBook Pro and no Bluetooth devices.
Donāt know if it answers some questions, i thought it might be interesting to share
Cheers
isnāt the message here that using ableton as the master clock is⦠sub optimal?
iāve seen it ruin things via DIN Midi too!
DAW clocks have mad jitter.
word.
I made a 5 min test recording of AR/AF because of these threadsā¦
there is no shift at 29 bars for me
The movement is so minor itās not even possible to measure less than 00.00.001 difference
and Impossible to hear. I donāt think erm multi clock could do any better
There are more important things to worry about when making music,
The problem with daws is they can be too sterile and robotic, unnaturally perfect
Anybody describing their own work as āfire!ā lacks judgment and any form of humility - rarefied a commodity as that may be in the artistic community, itās still galling. I once actually let the āDRIP PLUGINā advert play out and everyone described their own basic bitch ābeatā as fire. Sickening. Saw some other idiot talking about a MIDI chord pack āAnd I was like, I write my own chords, I donāt use chord packsā, he opens the chord pack and is like āthey have a chord for every key -C, C sharp, D, D sharp, D⦠whatever you wantā. Iām sure he writes amazing chords with a musical vocabulary as detailed as that. Itās just this whole influencer bullshit. Ridiculous.
I see youāve discovered chord pack guy.
Algorithms must not give me this crap because this is the first Iām hearing of it.
It might be because Iāve been searching music theory and production tips. The algorithm is tempting me to give up and buy the chord pack - jokes on them because I donāt think they would work with Renoise anyway!
