For sure we’ll see it on Elektron’s channel soon
It seemed pretty clear he’s going to share plenty of knowledge and love in due time, just not a release hype video.
Wouldn’t just posting a demo with no talking accomplish the same thing?
I guess. You should ask him. Maybe he doesn’t like the rush.
No, because I think there’s more to it than just his potential bias as an Elektron employee.
Consider the perspective of those who are releasing DT2 videos now, who’ve been beta testing and/or preparing their content for the moment the embargo gets lifted. Who have been working, probably for weeks, and don’t get paid for that work.
If you were one of those people, and hoping your new video would bring views to your channel and help grow your audience, would you be happy about having an Elektron employee in competition with you for those viewers? He already gets paid by Elektron, and here you are trying to indirectly have your own “payday” from this hot new release. You don’t want him upstaging you.
Voluntary edit - you can skip this. The argument stands just fine without bringing this into it.
Just look how upset BoBeats got about not being invited to do Digitakt content for the launch. It means a lot to people who are making YouTube their full-time career.
Frankly, I think it’s classy and considerate of Ricky not to join in the rush of release hype videos. He’s letting others have their moment in the sun.
And I think it’s just fine he made a video to say so. Better to communicate clearly and transparently with your audience than to leave them guessing.
Yeah, but he’s going to release a “non-review” video regardless. He didn’t release one immediately so he can release one now or anytime he wants I guess; there’s no more threat of “competition.”
My two cents. Sometimes you take decisions because your next action could give the impression you have a conflict of interest. And you just explain why you did it so there’s no misunderstanding about your motives and you don’t give people the opportunity to build their fantasy about your choice. The simplest explanation is usually the best one, like said another influencer. Respect to Ricky Tinez for having values and principles. Especially we already have plenty of almost similar videos telling us Digitakt II is an amazing product ©.
The question is wil Cenk make a „The Digitakt II Experience” video. He did it with the Syntakt, long after he left Elektron.
The fascination for YTers’ drama and the condescending attitude towards them is very toxic, please consider doing this on a more appropriate platform, but not here.
All this is not really giving the best image of an Elektronaut either.
Both topics on this are an open invitation for this kind of response, it’s unfortunate, but it’s the same with a few other polarising topics. There’s ideological fundamentalism which cannot be bridged because nobody wants to acknowledge a middle ground. The subject itself is simply toxic and some of the players aren’t helping either with regrettable outbursts, the kind that would lose you your job in any other industry. But who really cares, it’s drama on the periphery. Let’s look at the output from the channels and focus less on the politics, easier said than done.
As I recall it a few channels have gone as far to suggest that Elektronauts is toxic, well that tells you something (perhaps) about the discourse. I’d be glad to see the back of all this gossip frankly, but that’s me. Especially as it creates admin occasionally
Thank you both @LyingDalai and @avantronica I already had to mute the other thread and this was close to getting there as well.
sounds to me like the new kits, pools, and presets features are perfect fodder for a Ricky tutorial video to help clear up the confusion
What a brilliantly clear presentation of a complex device. So hard to do it this well and wish more companies invested in this sort of demonstration from an expert.
Great video by Ricky ‘Real World demo’ Tinez
What’s the topic, eh?
Midi
Honestly the MRCC (the big version of the thing Ricky has) is probably the best music gear purchase I have ever made. I’ve had it for a little over two years and I have never regretted owning it.
