Rhythm & Sound Dub Stab

It’s a combination of listening, memory and differentiation. I listen for the harmonics/overtones, for bumps in the spectrum. Sounds reminding me of other sounds and attributes (fm-like, saw-like, supersaw-like, pulse-like, comb-like, vowel-like).

Differentiation refers to hear two sounds and being able to hear what is the difference. In this example, my recreation is good enough, except the long supersaw sound :pl: That one to me sounds rather different to the original (filtering), even though it’s similar enough to be recognizeable. I might finish that cover and fix that.

However, listening is the main skill. I never heard this track before.

experimented with using the ms-20 as kind of a filter box/effects unit, putting it in the feedback path of a tape delay. i can then add some unpredictable movement to the delay by sequencing the vca/filters of the ms-20!

In my opinion it would be more interesting to add some notes about how the stabs are made/processed, than just posting some sounds.

I’ve already done that. Just look for my previous recent posts in this thread.

It wasn’t meant at anybody specific. I can only speculate that you try something diferent every time you are making something new to post here, so maybe you can write about something that you learned, or something new that you tried. Or even something that you liked/disliked about a new attempt. I just think there would be more engagement than just dropping some new sounds… there’s a separate topic for that

Still just Akai MPC One and its internal synths, filters and FX.

How did that vermona eq sound in the end?

Love this. Deep, dark, murky, fuzzy, and haunting. Nice work!

Awesome. Everything you run through it sounds great. Partly just because it’s nice to have a hands on EQ for a change. Really good at carving out the frequencies on a patch

Wow. Now that is truly beautiful and quintessentially dub. Make a track with this.
