I’m currently trying to create some tension/release type moments on Rytm by attempting to use retrigs in combination with parameter slides. So far no luck, even with slide trigs across the whole pattern. Is this not a possibility? If it is possible, any clues to what I might be missing?
You have to describe more precisely what you are doing. There is a velocity parameter in the slice menu, that you can also try… it raises or lowers the velocity across the retrigs… if you connect velocity to your desired parameters it might work
For an example; I am working with a 4/4 kick drum pattern (synth+sample with filter env and lfo for recursive filter env modulation).
I placed a single trig on step 1 with retrig 54 length and 1/4 repeat time with a slide trig on that step, then towards the end of the pattern there is a yellow trig. I have parameter locked filter env depth and reverb sends on both trigs, but when it plays though I only hear a single kick repeating as normal with no filter or reverb movement.
I recreated the idea on a different track using slide trigs while looping a sample, it works well for a sample but wouldn’t retrig the synth, filter or lfo the way I was hoping with the kick situation
Outside of using them with retrigs, slides seem to mostly work as expected
Maybe the slides do not work with the retrigs, because it is essentially a single trig with an effect (retrigger) added. I will try it this evening… cool, that the workaround with velocity curve works for you
Yes, i tested it now and can confirm, that the slide retriggers with every retrig. (Jumps to start value again) tried it with very slow trigs and it is clearly audible… luckily we have the velocity parameter for the retrigs…
