I’ve been playing with retrigs a lot lately. I have a come across a bug where if I have a retrig defined to play only 2 hits, when the clock is external then sometimes it will retrig twice and sometimes three times. This is not a problem if the AR is master clock. The obvious solution is to make the AR master, but I’d rather my MIDIBox Seq remain the clock master for all my devices. Not to mention, it’s likely that this also happens on the A4 and AK since they basically share the same sequencer, so you would not be able to have accurate retrig if using both devices simultaneously
So this has me wondering: what is the benefit of defining the duration of retrig playback over defining the exact number of retrigs?
I’m just trying to understand the logic in why it may have been implemented this way. I can see its usefulness in some cases, but I would think that in most cases for a drum machine you would only need to define short retrigs. On the Octatrack you define the number of retrigs and the time between the them and it never has playback issues as a slave - why not on the AR?
