Resampling - Tracks sometimes slightly unaligned

I just figured out how to resample my tracks today. I just sampled all of my tracks 1-7 onto track 8 via main outs. I noticed that everything seems to be slightly off. Is there anything I should check to make sure everything is aligned correctly or is this bound to happen? For example, after playing back a 64 step loop, when it looped back, the beat was just ever so slightly off. I made sure that the sampled started at 0, 0 attack, full hold, ful REL, RETRIG all the way to the left, RATE all the way to the right, RTIME (actually I’m not sure what this does completely yet.). If anyone has any useful tips as far as resampling goes, I’m happy to hear it. Thanks.

Please, describe the method you used to resample…manual triggering? recorder trig?
Give more details

There should be no issues at all using a rec trig - a oneshot rec trig - a quantized manual sampling method…

Also keep in mind that if you sample the MAIN you should keep the MAIN level at unity (0) otherwise you’ll get volume difference between source tracks and sampled version

I used the yellow trig (one time) from what I understand and set it for the entire length of my pattern - 64 steps. I disabled INAB and INCD. TRIG set to ONE, and SCRC3 set to MAIN. I’m not sure what the TRIG and LOOP do in the Recording setup either. Can anyone expand on this for me?

Also can someone clear up some confusion I have about the RECORDING SETUP screen? There’s a bar at the bottom where two small arrows run along the bottom. Is the top one displaying where the recording trig is and the other where the playback trig is in the loop?

Sorry for making this such a needy thread but I’ve figured out most of my OT stuff on my own for the last few weeks and couldn’t get my head around a few things. Should I be normalizing my samples when I re-sample? If so, where do I do this? Under the RECORDING 1 screen under the GAIN area? Should I save timestretch as NORMAL? Loop Mode OFF? I’ve been getting by thus far but don’t want to bite myself in the future with mistakes. I think I figured out the problem with my first question with the beats not quite syncing. I looked here at my recording mode and the TRIM LENGH (BARS) was something like 4.25 and the LOOP LENGTH WAS set to something different. So I imagine that’s what threw it off.

I would also like to know if I can use an ARP on a non-midi track? I have some one shot synths sampled and would find it awesome if I could do that.

Too many questions dude…I have one for you: do you have the F*manual?

You’ll find there a lot of answers if you are willing to search (pdf suggestion here)

Regarding the ARP to audio tracks…you can by looping (physical connection) OT MIDI OUT to OT MIDI INP.

Make some trials…other people here had great time with this unconventional trick.

But I never tried this by myself

Easy now. Didn’t know such a fecitious response was deemed for such innocent questions. I thought there may be a helpful forum member who might take a second to answer one of these questions. If you’re not already familiar it’s a common theme that the ot manual is not always clear to everyone including myself. And isn’t that one of the main points of this forum to help each other? Otherwise we can just have a subforum octatrack. - did you try to read the fuckin manual? On another note, thanks for the midi trick. Now go troll YouTube.

Also, most of your questions are allready answered, just search the forum and you will find lots of great info.
But we are happy to answer your questions here.
Maybe someone got out of the wrong side of the bed :sleepy: , just saying .

The TRIG parameter allows you to choose one of three methods for controlling the sampling process, specifically for stopping and re-starting sampling once it has started. I don’t recommend that you use the HOLD setting until you’re completely familiar with the other options.

For the LOOP parameter, I can’t put it better than the manual when it says “LOOP sets whether the captured sample will loop or not when played.”

Again, I can’t really improve on the description in the manual:

The bar at the bottom of the window indicates track recorder sampling and playback. It rep- resents the length (or projected length) of the recorder buffer. The two arrows visible when sampling or playing back samples show the record- and playback positions. The top arrow, pointing towards the bar, shows the recording position. The bottom arrow shows the play- back position.

Hey, that ain’t nice, sicijk is a top dude and a patient selfless contributor, it takes some to stir him, i have to agree, that’s waaaay too many questions in a row, we are trying to help, but it fries my brain and puts me off trying to follow it, so you lose a few wouldbe helpers by being a bit impatient and to be fair a lot of that stuff is covered in the forum and manual, no need to lower the tone, the manual is essential reading years after you get it, at least it is for me, check it out, the fog will clear, it’s best to get a fishing rod and not the fish imho

You’re right it was a long string of questions. I appreciate all responses. Perhaps I was a little short because I was up early 4am for a flight. Taking my grumpies out on forum members.
