Resampling Stereo to dual mono on DT2 with audio loopback, is it safe?

Hi guys. So I want to resample some stereo samples to mono using Digitakt 2, only without relying on an audio editor/DAW. I’m thinking of using a splitter cable to split either the L or R output to dual mono and run both split cables into the DT2 audio inputs. But I’m wondering if this is safe to do since it will affect the impedance and current going into the inputs? And will audio quality degrade / will background noise increase?

And yes I’m aware I can cause a feedback loop so I’ll take the necessary measures to disable the output on the track I’m sampling into. Just wondering if the DT2 can safely handle the impedance and current changes caused by splitting an audio signal

Yes, safe. Minimal background noise, for sure.

Thanks, glad to hear

Normal cables suffice. Just set inputs to Dual Mono and use levels to record the L/R or both to mono.

Remember to turn the external mixer page volume right down. Think you need to turn monitoring on sample page to off aswell. Start with everything low!

Thanks. I didn’t realize I can resample only one channel without it being hard panned on DT2 (that’s what I’d assumed would happen after reading about it and I don’t recall seeing an option in the recorder to sample only L or R individually). I’ll give it a try as maybe I overlooked it.

Thanks for pointing that out and saving my ears / monitors the pain . I definitely would have forgotten to turn off the recorder monitoring.

You can disable Inputs to Main routing, in Audio Routing.

I think you can also record inputs pre fader, so you can set inputs levels to 0, remove the cable you don’t want to record if so. (Monitor POST MIX ?)

@DiscoBiscuitChef I am afraid you need an Y cable.
DT seems to record what comes in (IN LR SRC) in stereo without taking account of Dual Mono setting.

Not sure if it is possible. There is Pre/Post setting.

@mxr if you consider feedback as dangerous, it is not safe with wrong settings.
