I would like to se a new Machine in the AR dedicated to playback of a sample. Kind of like the Flex in the OT. With no analog osc involved this machine would be possibe to use on any of the 12 tracks.
With more playback options, like loop start and loop stop (separated from the current start and stop settings for samples) this machine would be killer for instrument samples.
same for me. more sample manipulation stuff would be great.
I dont think it should be a loop machine, get an OT for that job.
I see a well fit for sample machines that make use of analog circuits, like a ringmod sample machine, a vocoder.
elektron could give some more fx types like echo freeze, more distortions, multiband bitcrusher and per track fx (eq, better sample rate reducer).
It’s not so much the sample manipulation for me, I think the current stuff goes a long way. The main thing is to be able to use a sample playback machine on any of the 12 tracks.
Making and saving sounds today locks me down to load them back on the same tracks due to the track specific analog machines.
Not a big deal for kick, snare and percussive samples but for instruments I don’t always want to use up for example the cowbell for instrument stuff.

You can’t use samples on all 12 voices? how have i missed

Yeah sure you can, that’s not what I’m asking for.
The AR has different Machines for different tracks/pads. The analog synth drum complexity differs between the different machines but all have the same sample playback handling and settings.
If you save a preset for the BD, called a “sound” on the AR, you can only load that into the first four tracks/pads. This limit is due to how the analog synth engine works.
For a sound that only uses a sample this “limit” is kind of in the way. That’s why I’m asking for a machine that only has sample playback and doesn’t include any analog drum synth stuff.
There are 8 Voices in the Rytm, each with sample playback. You cant have 12 samples playing back at the same time.
Though i like this idea. Would be nice to be able to exchange the sampling machine so that instead of the start, end and loop parameter there was hold, decay and srr or the like.

Would be cool if they added a whole bank of 12 pads for just samples. Probably not going to happen, but should be possible and would be a huge +.

yes, thats a very good point.
have a own machine or let add a save/load menu to the sample page for sample presets.
I’d still love to see machines that use analog circuits but emphasize on samples. to keep in the concept it should use at least some analog hardware.
going from the interviews I dont think its possible in ARs architecture to replace oscillator sources with sample sources. maybe we get a surprise…
I understand granular, loop, etc. stuff and other DSP mayhem is not ARs domain and its fair enough Elektron wants me to buy OT, MD if they offer what I am asking for.
What do you mean?[/quote] @Muddler has a great point. There are still only 8 tracks. There would need to be more tracks for this to work. One idea could be to make a page that only plays the samples assigned to each sound. That way you wouldn’t have to p-lock analog engine on or off for each step. You could just play the samples separately but still have them voice steal like normal for their track. Does that make sense??
