Hi everybody!
I don’t own either one (yet) myself, but i’m always on the lookout for some nice demos of what these babes can do and how far they can go.
Now, don’t interpret this is a complaint. More like a request.

Most of the demos i encounter of the A4 (and also the recent ones of the AK), for some reason, mainly focus on the more “softer” sides of this synth. The sounds i’m hearing are more of the “airy” kind, plucks, chill-out, drenched in reverb (some not) etc.

What i would love to hear more is:

  1. Some of the more aggressive sounds.
  2. Deep basses (specially now with all the talk about how the sound got better since the OS update).
  3. I heard about the ability to use P-Locks to change a preset per step, but have yet to encounter a demo of that.
  4. The A4\AK sequencer has accents and slides. I have yet to hear some dirty, old fashion acid action (obviously this isn’t supposed to be a TB303, but still wonder how does the accents and slides sound).

Catch my drift  ?
Can anyone show these sides of the A4\AK - or is only capable of soft, airy, chill-out sounds?

p.s. - i know it’s capable of more aggressive sounds. Some of the demos on the Elektron webpage show this. Nevertheless i’m wondering whether the A4\AK is just “naturally” more inviting to create softer sounds - or is it just a coincidence that most demos focus mainly on that…?

FWIW here’s a trashy thing where I tried to play with the more unstable side of the ladder filter:

and here’s another trashy thing messing with the poly settings & arps on locked sounds among other things, and some peformance macro mangling:

more trash:

drums (locked sounds):

moar drums, more locked sounds:

(some of these may have some subtle compression, others are just normalized, I don’t remember)

it’s just the laziest thing to do with it imo. twerk some sound… dunno what to do next… let’s crank the reverb → automatic lush.

Wow, thanks!!!
Really tasty timbres and sounds. Really showcases the places it can go to.
Let’s hear some more from more users!

Yeah, well, i guess so.
It’s just that… i look at the specs and see the amount of lfo’s (including the dedicated lfo’s), the number of envelopes (regular and dedicated envelopes), the long list of modulation sources and destinations (which is up there with dsi stuff. Maybe even more), stuff like AM etc - and i’m asking myself: where is all of that? Why don’t i see demos with users going in these directions?
Anyway, hope to hear more of that!

there’s a thread here somewhere where people are exploring the oscillator feedback, pretty good stuff in there.

not a track, more of an experimentation with grittiness

What can i say? Sounds brilliant.
But again, it seems like it’s one of two extremes. Either soft etc - or experimental.
Is there someone with some good old fashioned acid\accents\slides\303-ish examples?

Hey Zahush76 this Maschine can do some serious Acid TB303 Stuff …two of the Factory Pattern/Kits show this …when i find some Time i will record and upload it here

16 steps, two channels.

Nice!

I got the A4 about a month or so ago, and enjoying it immensely. Still have a lot to learn on it.
