Replacing digitone 2 with an ableton ITB or push alternative

I had to send my DN2 back to Elektron for a repair back in November, and just discovered it’s actually been held in customs for the last few months so needs to get re-sent. Anyway, I’m now questioning whether there’s a viable alternative to it seeing as the rest of my sounds are all in ableton.

I’m writing electro, other people place chill stuff with some garage elements. Mainly relying on samples and textures with granulator and slate+ash cycles. Beats, bass, leads, arps etc I like that FM mono etc n the pocket stuff the digitone is great at.

Anyone else transitioned to using native or plugin FM stuff over their digitone boxes? Stuff like Operator, fors stuff or fm8?

I have a push 3SA but never got on using operator with it. I’ve got a rotocontrol I could potentially also use.

I know there’s these alternatives and prob others but just checking in really to see if anyone else has discovered benefits from moving away from the DN in this regard?

I don’t have an answer to your question, but I’d love to hear what your stuff sounds like if you have any of it posted anywhere!

This was made with only Operator and Delay.
Give it a chance, it’s great!

Thanks, plan is to finish stuff for the summer, only got several tracks at demo stage right now, but after lots of playing around with all kinds of ideas and gear, this stuff is keeping me enthused! DM me and I can send you some WIP, thanks though!

Ah this the guy who lives in the shed!! Yes, we exchanged some messages a while back about some max stuff/workflows. He was getting really into using an M8. Thanks for the reminder, will listen to his stuff again!

Besides the ones recommended above, have a look at For.fm plugins. They have a good approach to FM synthesis like the Digitone since the guy behind Fors used to work for Elektron and was the lead designer of the Digitone and Model:Cycles. Would recommend Opal, Para, Glänta and their latest Pivot plugins.

I can recommend opsix native too, it’s very capable.
