So last year I bought a used Mk1, which was in very good condition aside from an issue with some of the encoders (particularly encoder A, which controls the main filter cutoff). It’s noticeably wobbly, and unless I’m pushing all the way down it will either not respond or get stuck on certain values unless I tilt it a certain way. About two other encoders have similar issues. I thought it’d be something I could fix myself if I opened it up and tightened them with a wrench, but after some research I’ve found that it’s an issue with the solder itself. Then I found this thread and video, in which a guy replaced the encoders on his Octatrack Mk1 with units available on Mouser.
I’m pretty sure that the encoders on the A4 would be the same as on the OT, but I want to be absolutely sure. If they are I’ll pick them up and then take my unit to a shop in town to do the job (all I can solder is audio cable). So is this the case? If not, what would y’all suggest? (I can’t get a Mk2 BTW. Money’s tight, I wouldn’t have the space for it on my desk, and all they changed in the sound engine is the overdrive).
