Tried removing one of the Ribbon Cables from the PCB (The one right next to the Ribbon Cable attached tot the Crossfader) because I had it in reverse and the Octatrack wasn’t booting. Well, as it turns out during my attempts to twiddle with it, I ended up ripping the bugger right out the socket (See pic). Does anybody know where I can purchase a replaceable ribbon cable for the Octa MK1? I emailed Elektron, but they haven’t gotten back to me yet on this one.
That looks like an ordinary set of IDC connectors and cable, but it can be tricky to order the right parts if you haven’t done it before. It would be helpful if you took a picture of JUST the cable and missing end, with the holes facing up. Try to frame the image so that it takes up as much of the frame as possible without any digital zooming.
edit: bonus points if you can include a portion of a ruler (ideally metric + imperial, but either is fine) in the photo, as close as possible to the holes in either the broken plug or the plug still attached to the cable)
For others finding this thread, this is why you should NEVER pull on the cable. Always pull (gently) on the plug body itself. You can get away with pulling on the cable until you can’t.
(I’ve never pulled a plug off of a cable, but I have bent pins on several occasions due to not following my own advice)
used to make laptop bags out of ribbon cables because … i don’t know. Seemed very logic to do so.

so not every broken ribbon cable is a disaster, also sewing machine goes also very smooth thru it and its durable as heck.
by the way you should have a red marked side from where you count the amount of cables and then do research how to connect this sized ribbon cable, your research will very very likely end up at some strange webdesign where you can order such… they are actually very common. I mean after all its just cable.
ps: the laptop bags are out of stock.
and here quick research…
your photo reveals “N 6 P”, 500V and connector looks indeed like IDC socket
soo some starting point maybe here… (you can use the refine table above)
https://www.mouser.co.uk/c/wire-cable/cable-assemblies/ribbon-cables-idc-cables/?q=Flat%20Cable&connector%20end%20a%20pin%20count=6%20Position&instock=y&normallystocked=y
Just take that cable to any electronics shop, they’ll have something that matches. Too long is not a bother.
