Replacement CF Card - Octatrack MK2

Hi,
I’ve filled my card that came with the device and want to get a bigger card. Having read a number of posts about unreliable cards, I was wondering if anyone could advise me on what I should get that would not present any problems.
The one that came with the device has been fine it’s just not big enough.
Cheers everyone.
Adam

Lexar, SanDisk and Transcend have never given me or my OT grief.

Cheers Hans_Olo, I’ll check out some prices.

Do I need to consider transfer rates?

Not as far as the OT is concerned in theory - there is no evidence presented of anything that constitutes a bottleneck on the OT in terms of read/write rates … indeed, as I say from time to time, why would Elektron distribute the device with a card spec that could affect their reputation.

There is certainly lots of evidence about the one off speed benefits when transferring onto the card from the computer - so I guess it depends on whether a few seconds/minutes every now and then is worth the (sometimes significantly) extra dollars

I’d say it comes down to reliability, availability and convenience(size) – i’d sooner have a few cards with different data than one with it all, they’d also be easier to periodically backup

Anyway - all the previous discussion applies 100% to the MK2, so there are lots of threads on CF cards already

FWIW, I use the supplied Kingston 16GB as a physical backup (in fact it is my fourth backup considering I backup to my Mac, which also has a time machine backup, and a google drive cloud backup).

Main CF is a 64GB Sandisk Extreme. Has given me zero issues, and runs just under $45.

Fabulous. Thanks for that.

I think you answered my question about the Octatrack and CF cards.
I am new to the Octatrack…
Here is my question just to confirm. Can you use more than one CF card for various samples projects etc.? Like for example, when you different CF cards and say a camera?
Thanks

Sure, although I can’t personally see the need when you can load plenty neatly on one card. But for sure many people use more than one card. I don’t think you can load into RAM from two, but OT can use more than one card easily

You can swap out CF cards to your heart’s content. I would not use any of those cards in other devices, such as cameras, though. Also note that a set and it’s projects will reside on one card, you can only access one card at any given point in time and your projects can only use samples that are on the same card.
