I don’t have an OB-6, but I LOVE the factory preset 007, called “Broken EP”.
Would anyone here be able to help me in re-creating it, specifically for any iOS synth? I make music all the time, but I don’t really understand synths to the extent that I’m able to recreate a patch like that.
I found several mentions where people already did that, even describing what they do – but I’m unable to apply or transform this to any of my synths. I have them all mostly because of their presets or preset packs (oh the shame)
I have OB-Xd, AniMoog Z, Buttersynth, Zeeon, Dagger, Trooper, Twin3, Kaspar. Would any of you know how to proceed with these? I have no troubles buying another synth, I just can’t afford the real thing, and would love to stay within iOS.
I tried around with Ob-Xd, and also got some help – but honestly, the results weren’t satisfying. This might be entirely unrelated to Ob-Xd’s abilitites. I simply don’t understand enough synth programming and sound design, to be able to reconstruct a synth sound.
PS: I was using the iPad exclusively until I bought Repro-5. By entering the Adult World and buying ONE non-iPad plugin, the floodgates have been opened. I’m now entirely invested in sequencing via Drambo, and having loads of new sounds via Spitfire, Kontakt etc.
This is the only downside here: I spent money I wouldn’t otherwise have spent. On the plus side, there now are tracks like this one, with Broken EP coming in at around 2:50. Silently, beautifully…
Thanks for sharing, yeah the BrokenEP patch works great in that track!
That does help (I was actually inspired to go down this path by the same reddit post) but I was hoping you’d gotten somewhere with Ob-Xd since that’s the one I have, and it seems like it should be possible with that one… I got pretty close actually, probably close enough, but was just checking back in case you had any tips on that one. But glad you found something that’s working for you!
I’m using ableton, and have this followed by a little bit of tube saturation from Roar, some dark delay from Echo, and Valhalla VintageVerb
Edit: Osc1 is at -12 semitones and Osc2 is at -19
Edit2: I was getting a weird error loading this as an Ableton preset where the pitch would come out a half step flat and I had to wiggle one of the Osc knobs to fix it. So I started using 0 semitones and -7, so far seems to work better (an octave up of course…)
