Recording preference - individulaly or as unit?

Hi this is a general question for people who are using the AR for audio to be used within a DAW.

Do you record each track individually (ie kicks, snares, separately) or do you use the AR as a self contained instrument and use the built in effects for mixing?

Just getting an idea for what people’s preference seems to be with AR.

Well at the moment I record the Analog Rytm through the main output since I don’t have the proper audio interface/mixer to route the individual channel outs. I’m okay with this right now as it allows me to focus solely on the Analog Rytm and get the most out of the box.

Ideally, I’d like to route the individual outs so that I can mix/edit the individual channels in my DAW. I suppose I’ll be waiting for Overbridge to fulfill this need.

Yeah overbridge will be a great boon.
I am thinking of getting an adat (any suggestions? ) for my babyface but will wait until aftee overbridge. In the interim I am planning to record the individual outs 2 by 2 (babyface = 2 ins). Couldn’t you do that or is there something im missing?

I don’t see why not, you’ll just be recording the outs in pairs of 2 and not all at once.

I record the tracks one by one on the stereo out as the individual outputs don’t go through the compressor (or i’m doing something wrong). It’s not that super-duper as the compressor behaves completely differently for single tracks but it’s something.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think I am going to record individual outs through main stereo as well, at least to overbridge.

You can record all tracks at once, dry from the direct outs but rout all tracks to FX only, then that output goes to the mains… That way you can still have the fx (just not individually) Best of both I think as you will always have your dry signal if you later decide the fx are too much.
