Recording MIDI *from* Digitakt hardware interface using Overbridge to Ableton

Please can someone confirm whether this is expected behaviour or something is wrong.

I’m able to correctly change parameters that are configured to the AU/VST in Ableton. Parameters in AU change the macros on Push 2, and the Hardware Digitakt, it’s super responsive. Like so:

But as soon as I map those parameters you see above to Digitakt, everything falls apart. Just to be super clear, I mean doing this:

Sample tune for example which goes from -24 > +24, goes all over the place, as the slider is 0 > 1.

Try change Sample Play Direction (REV / REV.L / FWD.L / FWD) and it constantly skips the inner loop options.

Filter seems to change multiple parameters at once, resonance and frequency change if i just change frequency, and as you can see, no, the channels are not incorrect.

I can’t make heads or tails of it. Surely (!) you’re able to use your Digitakt hardware device as an interface within the context of overbridge?

Or am I wrong, and you have to either use those extremely counter intuitive mapped sliders on your screen and if you’re lucky, a Push 2?

I’ve been battling this literally for three weeks and just can’t seem to figure out the logic, or accept that this is a limitation. It just goes against the whole point of having a Digitakt… I might as well have an expensive box for a plugin called Digitakt VST, that I’m not allowed to touch if I want to use a DAW with it.

I’ve tried changing in prefs the Takeover to None, Pickup, Value Scaling.
All that talk of being able to change the Min / Max range seems to make zero diff, you can’t say, change Min to -24 and Max to +24, it only accepts 0-1.

Yes you can assign it to a Macro, but even then, no negative values accepted, and then you limit yourself to 8 marcos anyway.

I’ve even downloaded prEditor 2, which is amazing by the way for mapping to the Push 2, which allows you to customise the options of a parameter like Fliter type by adding “OFF:HP:LP” but this doesnt solve the weird pickup issues when I map the DT hardware buttons to the DT AU paramters.

Seriously hoping someone can enlighten me. Three weeks, literally, no luck.

I’m not 100% sure what you’re trying to do and I’ve only used over ridge a couple of times but I don’t think you should have to map the Digitakt to anything. When you move a knob on the Digitakt it changes the parameters in the plug-in so no additional set up is required. What exactly are you trying to achieve?

Hey there. I want to control and record any accessible Digitakt CC parameters on the fly using my Push 2 or the Digitakt hardware device.

That means that the Push 2 and the Digitakt need to listen to each other.

If I turn up Bit Reduction on Track 4 via the Push 2, it needs to update on the Digitakt, and visa versa.

In theory this should be totally possible, and it hints at it being so, but when i set it up, I get major lag.

There’s also the issue of values being different from DT to Push2. Some values are ranges (REV / REV.L / FWD.L / FWD) while some are integers (1,2,3…) and other floats with decimals, some 0-127, others 0-120…

I’ve been playing with prEditor 2, but hitting some roadblocks.

There’s also the issue of Digitakt’s Auto Channel then tweaking ALL the tracks, instead of the one focussed.

Maybe there are some M4L utilities that can help with this. Surely I’m not the only person who wants seamless interoperability with their hardware devices.
