Recorder trig problem, is this normal?

Does the QREC set to PLEN setting only affect the ‘recorder button and track button’ method of sampling?

I’m running at 1/2 speed so a pattern cycle is 128 steps, recorder length at MAX. I set a record trig on the 1st step, Trig setting set to ONE, QREC to PLEN. Now with this setup I’m assuming that when I play back the pattern it will record for the duration and then stop recording when the next pattern starts but instead, the recorder just continues recording into the next pattern. Is this normal? The way the manual describes things, I’m thinking this should work. I’ve tried different trig settings but they all result in the recording carrying over to the next pattern. I’ve also tried ONE2 with an extra record trig at the end of the pattern but it just initiates recording again which, again, carries over into the next pattern.

I usually use ONE2 and trig the recording manually (which works great), but in this scenario, I want the recording to take place automatically. I’m sure I had this working a couple of years back but I can’t figure it out at the moment, any input appreciated!

QREC for Rec buttons or midi notes only.
Rec Setup RLEN will be in regular steps, at 1/1 scale, whatever your track scale is.

To “automate” longer recordings, I use a one shot rec, then Rec buttons in ONE2 mode, QREC.
In that case, press Rec buttons TWICE!
Grid Recording off if you want to use Rec buttons in Rec Setup menu.

Thanks @sezare56 at least I know its not possible now, I’ll have to stick with length 64.

I really wish they would add longer values for the record length, at least enough to accommodate the different track scales!

I sometimes use another track with an ‘alarm’ set to remind me to stop recording at 16 bars or whatever! Have it quantised to stop recording at end of current bar

Thanks, thats not a bad idea, I’ll try that out. I guess I’ll just have to get used to doing it manually, I usually pre-record my longer loops and haven’t dived in to the live sampling/looping properly

With longer samples it’s nice to have them readily divisible by the various slice grids available

You can also set QREC to PLEN, and set the pattern to desired length.
One shot rec trig, press twice REC button and it will record up to 1024 steps (64 bars).

I tested once with 64 bars, sliced it. Choose / reorder best bars after!

Actually, you are describing my normal workflow except I rarely use the one shot trigs, I just use the ONE2 before switching patterns. Its nice to have perfect loops to then manipulate later

Imagine an upgrade with up to 1024 steps RLEN recording…:loopy:
