Anyone get anything good? I’m not much on buying physical media these days, but when I saw that there was going to be a limited reissue of Venetian Snares’ “Rossz Csillag Alatt Született” I had to go grab it. Also picked up “Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding”, and nearly grabbed the other VSnares records, but someone came and snatched them up. In retrospect, I should have stopped that guy and struck up a conversation, but then he might have wanted the records I had in hand . Couldn’t find the new OPN record, sadly. Would have liked to at least taken a look at the Ministry box set, as Al Jourgensen had a big personal impact on my 20s.
I used to spend ages in record/cd shops in my youth, and I really miss it, but can’t justify spending the money on physical media these days. “Rossz…” was one of those albums that really inspired me to make my own music, and it was a bit of a nostalgia trip to walk into a record store again and buy it. Crazy to me to think that there’s an entire generation not far behind my own that has never done that.
Today for the first time in over 20yrs something from the criminally underrated LEVITATION comes out and I will freak if I can’t get my hands on it. This bands music still sounds like something from the future, Prog at it’s finest. Look them up!
I was extremely high several years ago sitting on a couch listening to Mike Oldfield , Millenium Bells, live DVD from a concert in 'Berlin , live rec … never once saw this DVD in any store … all I remember is this piece was the shit and moved the 3 of us on that 5.1 couch into several dimensions… sigh…
I just got the new Squarepusher because there were so many people in the store. I don’t usually do go to RSD events because I usually spend some time in a record store every weekend, but yeah I really wanted that new Squarepusher
I didn’t have a chance to go to a record store, because there is none in the city I live - except MediaMarkt and stuff like that, and I don’t like to support this.
I don’t buy a lot of physical records any more, but I think it’s important to support local shops and I try to get my stuff from there when I have a chance…
