I know that is not possible to parameter lock the performance macro encoder values, or to record these encoder moves into the A4 .
Is there a little chance that any update makes it possible?
The same with the joystick, no chance to record it, but can any update in the future make it possible? Or does the design of the machine makes it impossible?
My guess is Overbridge will make that possible. In fact, you can already do that with plain old CC control and a DAW.
But on the machine itself, I don’t see how/where you could manage the recorded movements…
Remember there’s ten encoders - so you would need ten different tracks. That would require a lot of menu diving under Performance Setup. Just imagine how easy it would be to forget you’ve recorded movements under each encoder track.
it’s not gonna happen, you can throw additional stuff at your box (it may or may not compromise it), but Elektron have set sensible constraints to keep things tight, manageable and it’s a bit of a balance, it also makes little sense to constrain performance controls, especially pitch bend and aftertouch to be discretised to 16steps per bar, that’s how the sequencer is structured, it doesn’t do continuous modulation - so yeah, whilst on day one i too longed for the recording of some of this data, i made peace with the fact that it is a design choice for a reason, it’s not an omission or something on the todo list imho - tbh, most limitations makes more sense when you think 'em through, but there’s always room for improvement
yes i know i can do it with a DAW, but wish i could do it intern. So Overbridge didn´t change the situation.
Maybe i give the beatstep a chance, so i could trigger my slimPhatty too.
now the MD does this job but it was sometimes a little bit to tricky for my old brain.
@vestibule
you don´t need ten different tracks only one which records the cc data from the performance knobs or the joystick.
Maybe elektron could make it possible to do it with the CV track. So you had to decide if you want to use it for internal CC data or CV signals.
This would make my AK4 to the perfect machine for me, cause i didn´t use the CV feature.
