Record, mastering & export octatrack song

how do you record & master your octatrack songs?

I have a first song - it’s sounds OK for me on my monitors but to much bass on a regular Hifi.

I want to record the song on my mac an master it so that it sounds ok for a CD of soundcloud.

How do you record?
What software do you use?
Do you master in the OT
Do you master in your recording software?
What tools do you use?
Any mastering tips?

Hey Fred, I’m guessing your monitors are quite small?

I’m coming straight out of OT into Motu 828mk2.
Recording stereo into DSP Quattro then using several instances of the free(!) Limiter No. 6 mastering compressor.

Though I’m not really into his music, Robert Babicz gives some good advice here:
