I am trying to get my Octatrack to record for 80 steps at 144bpm. I’ve tried changing the scale multiplier to 1/2x and setting the RLen to 40 but the recorder doesn’t seem to be affected by the scale multiplier.
Is there any way I can start a record buffer and have it stop exactly 80 steps later?
If I set the RLen to Max, is there any way I could set some type of record stop trigger or an alternate technique?
You could use arranger to create an arrangement which runs for 80 steps then stops. By placing a recorder trig at the start of the first pattern you should be able to record for an even 80 steps.
Your arrangment would look like this:
EDIT: Actually it seems as if the recorder will not stop. hmmmm, anybody else?
Yeah, exactly. It doesn’t look like there’s a way to put a Stop record event in arranger, only record with the predetermined RLen, which has a max of 64 steps
I’ve settled on using a Record Trig to start the recording with setting One-2, then end it manually by hitting record again at the appropriate time with a QRec of 16.
t’s a little awkward and menu-divey, so I might pick up a MIDI expander for my Keith McMillen Softstep to use that as a MIDI controller for the stop record event.
