I had an mk1 and wasn’t a fan. Filters were ok-ish but the distortion always left me wanting less. It has something irritating about it. It’s not “rock-n-roll”, rather it’s something nauseating in a strange way. Could be a personal thing. I’m an absolute fan of distortion, like I love the Culture Vulture, but sadly the Heat wasn’t for me. At least the mk1. And afaik the mk2 and +FX never changed the sound itself.
I have the same opinion. The distortions on the Analog Drive is better and the filters sound kinda off.
I found buying an Analog Four MKII as a filter/distortion unit to be better. Definitely another option. You can use two tracks for stereo filtering and the other two for synthesis.
i wish they still made these
and these
its in euro but a mutable blades clone as well as stereo dipole by SSF are quite good stereo filters. would recommend giving those a listen
Awww… shucks. Am I off base praising the AH mk 2? Maybe my ear isnt trained to know different…
I should try a/b a DFAM or Mother 32 to see what the filterins sounds like, though I dont know if the AH has true bypass, since it needs to be powered on to pass signal.
Eh taste is taste I’ve enjoyed how it sounds at times as well
I actually made a vid about my thoughts on the AH… (to post on IG later once im done with my mental health break from social media…im sensitive)
Its a bit off topic, since Im talking about the saturation instead of the filter, but maybe you might find it interesting… plus the saturation was already brought up, so it kinda ties in
I wouldnt mind to hear you thoughts…
