RE: Effect Tails

Hi Elektronauts,

Still a newbie on the OT but have been having issues regarding effect tails when muting tracks, very annoying especially with reverb and delay (of course).

I’ve quickly searched the forum and a general internet search and have only come up with users complaining about the same issue and some rather convoluted workarounds that don’t really solve the problem albeit by severely restricting you in other ways…

Any advancements on this subject?

Thanks!

Dont know exactly what you did find from your search.

Anyway, i would like to have options over this behavior…

Do you mind using Scenes?

Locking the VOL (not TrkLevel) you can have muting without tail’s cutting

Hi sicijk,

Thanks for the reply

That was indeed one of the suggestions I came across…

So in practice I’d have to assign 8 out of the 16 available scene slots for track muting purposes…I guess it’s an ok workaround, but a restrictive one at that.

I’d have to put the method into practice before I can say if it works for me but sounds un-intuitive for now and hardly ideal. Perhaps something Elektron will sort out in future OS? let’s see…

maybe if someone has had an official response they could chip in, it does seem like something moderately easy to implement (ie to provide an option on a track basis) - but underneath, it may well be tricky and that’s why it’s not an option - still, it’d be good to know as it keeps cropping up

It would be less of an issue if the OT had more outputs…routing each track through a separate mixer channel…or a more comprehensive internal mixer mode…

It is really very annoying to have delay and reverbs cut off if you mute a track. I am not aware of any of their other machines doing this. So it stems from, most likely I think, that the effects are “per track” and not a bus as they are on the MD and A4 (not sure about MM). It needs to be fixed or they need to give us a common and easy work around. Elektron has a bad habit of addressing very commonly asked questions.

a workaround: use func + vol in the amp menu.

if you tweak vol down while holding func, vol snaps to its minimum value (assuming it’s initially at 0 or some negative value). but delay and reverb tails remain.

only affects a single track of course, but i imagine you could work multiple tracks with a scene switch.
