I got a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B CannaKit to do retro-video game emulation with so I could play games with my wife (finally). However, despite her saying she’d be interested, it turns out she is not. So now I have a Pi board lying around and I don’t really think I’ll play many of the games on my own.
Anyone have any good simple synth/sampler/drum machines they’ve made with the Pi that they could guide me into creating?
Otherwise - if you don’t feel like spending even more money…
if you feel like Chiptune or so you could install “Milkytracker” on any linux distribution
Maybe also checkout Sonic Pi http://sonic-pi.net/
Or look into “Pure Data”
I havent made anything myself but Hydrogen is a full fledged drum machine and Tracktion Waveform DAW runs on pi3 too (I think you have to pay for that one though).
Theres a heap of free music stuff available via the apt-get method (I can’t remember the exact syntax off the top of my head). If you are only interested in creating things from scratch then maybe Pure Data and Supercollider would be more suitable.
I have MilkyTracker on standby if I ever want some retro tracking fun
Edit: Someone already posted while I was typing ha!
I have one of the very first Pi’s. Never did anything with it - just thought it was cool to own!
Would be cool if there were some fairly capable digital synth engines you could load in. Would make for great OT food. Must look into it further some day.
