Raspberry Pi for live

Wondering if any of you guys on here have any experience with Raspberry Pi(s) in your live rigs.
Had a couple of ideas but really have no experience with it or with Linux for that matter. So thought I’d put it out here just to get an idea of how viable it is for live applications

Buy a Pisound and tinker with it. User mzero uses it a lot – I think he has some posts here about his setup. I use my Pisound as my main “audio interface” at home all the time. Just managed to finish my setup – jack audio with Bloka’s (manufacturer of Pisound / MidiHub) patchboxOS linux distribution (everything is already configured to run in a special realtime kernel / environment etc.) and AirPlay and Spotify Connect can be played all simultaneously (and my speaker turn automatically on and off when stuff is playing / not playing).

With this setup you can add lots of stuff … like PureData stuff or this:

That’s great, a lot to think about.

Thanks man

yep the built-in audio is … not good … so some kind of replacement sound would be required.

Many USB MIDI interfaces work just fine (Roland UM one) - I run ChucK on a RPi 2 just for some MIDI transformation scripts on my MPC1000.

I’ve also used 3 or 4 in week-long installations, splitting tasks between them - audio playback, sensor hub, text projection, posting tweets etc. No problems and solid as as long as you power them adequately.

Another Pisound recommendation. I use it mostly as effects block.
