Random menu popup on Digitakt

I could not find this issue on existing threads. not even sure how to describe it. I’m running latest s/w on Digitakt. I noticed recently when playing a pattern. it’s running drums and I’m playing the guitar to it. I look down at display and every once in a while, I see a menu pop up. It is usually, the sample selector when in SRC, prompting some kind of sample change. Very weird. I’m nowhere near the device. the behavior is similar to when you brush your handing mistakenly against the D knob. It’s random, happens on different patterns. My concern is that if I were to have my hands on the unit when it does this, then I could change a sample sound or some other parameter by mistake. Of course it times out and vanishes, but I suppose what described could happen. Is this a known issue or maybe I have a bad box? Perhaps there’s some kind of automation that I mistakenly turned on. I don’t think so, but that did occur to me.

I’ve read that this is a known issue of sorts, I think it’s described in the bugs thread. I’ll look for it.

It’s like the haptic feedback goes crazy on that encoder, something like that.

This started to happen lately, too, but not often enough to worry about it yet.

Check out the posts in close proximity to this one in the bugs thread, there’s a discussion about it of sorts. I know that doesn’t help really, but it at least identifies that you didn’t do anything to cause the issue. Hopefully that will be in some way useful to you.

FWIW I’ve also seen this come up as a point of discussion in a couple of other threads, so the incidents are not just isolated to the discussion I quoted, as Voxx also just attested.

Good to hear it is a known issue…. happens to me as well.

D knob jitters. :grimacing:

happens every so often on my Digitone with the LFO destination popup. I dont think its hardware failure because of how super high res the pots are, so even a tiny vibration can set off a value change.

would be cool if all popup type values had a bigger deadzone/bigger granularity, accepting only changes in step of 1, instead of reacting to every 0.05.

This just started happening on my Digitakt ii :smirk:

Yes. Make sense for slot select.
Btw I’d like an option or way to set all values without decimals.
PITA to select whole values…

This happens to me as well, I think when a spec of dust lands on the knobs  I do wish we could dial down the touch sensitivity on the knobs a bit, they are way too sensitive at times. I can barely even get my finger close and the knob will register it as a touch. Had the same issue with the Poolyend Play and had to sell it, would hate to do the same with the DT2.

I usually move the D encoder a bit and exit menu with NO. Shouldn’t happen.

Had this problem, and fixed it by removing the encoder caps, spraying the pots with compressed air, then flushing them out with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Also applied some deoxit fader lube for good measure.

Disclaimer: This is not an Elektron sanctioned fix and you’re doing it at your own risk. But it worked for me and haven’t seen any encoder issues for over a year now.
