sometimes when i hit stop, i want to start a pattern but at a specific part
sometimes i try to get a “loop” kind of function going by quickly changing the pattern length to the first 4 steps or whatever…but that kind of limits the loop
so, without using the arranger, is it possible to on the fly say:
“hey, pattern A01…start on step 17 end on step 32…ok now start on 33 and end on 36” while looping between these points of course.
how about this for an idea of a potential solution:
a step record mode option of not only “nudge” a track’s sequencing forwards or backwards by one step at a time, but also one page at a time.
[edit: this is a feature request, not a current feature]
and then, to have a “global track sequence nudge” option, pushing the sequenced notes of all tracks forwards or backwards a step or a page … all at once.
to loop the desired portion, change the pattern length into a lesser amount via Scale and LED’s i think.
i have been making use of these various workarounds (arranger, sampling/slicing master/echo freeze) but was hoping i had just missed something obvious.
and yes @previewlounge that is something i was really hoping for, a larger scaled nudge would be great. maybe even a way on the “scale” page to say hold a button down (like edit maybe? not sure) and then press two trig buttons in succession…these two points would then be the “loop” portion of the pattern, or start/end points. then just holding edit button + pressing either one would end this behaviour.
oh btw it is also possible to copy and paste just a page of track notes from one page to the other:
engage step record mode
whilst holding the Scale Setup button
also press the Record/Copy button to ‘Copy Page’
navigate to desired page location
Scale Setup + Stop/Paste
pretty quick placement of musical trig data this way, although again, potentially a compromise.
sampling the master output is also surely a greatly valuable approach, as this does result in a number of cool musical loops saved in the OT audio record folder over time … sure, the articulation has gone from 8 tracks to only one track, but this kind of audio development is one of the magic characteristics of the OT it would seem… re-sequencing and working into the fabric of an audio loop, p-locking and adding accents, silences, parameter slides.
