Question regarding copying parts between projects

Is it possible to copy parts or patterns between projects?

Yes to both. Not at the same time. It is also possible to copy banks with File Manager (much easier with a computer).

Banks contain patterns and parts. So you can regroup some patterns with their parts in banks then copy.

Beware : sample slots have to correspond !

I still haven’t worked this out. I always save parts and projects at each major change, because I’m unsure if patterns are saved in the project file or with parts.
The samples will be in a different order, but I can repoint the copied parts to the correct samples/position in the list.

Patterns and parts are saved in Bank files. (You can save/reload banks independently.)
I would copy banks rather than pattern/parts if I have more than 2 pattern/parts to copy.

Project files contains sample slots allocations, Personalize settings…

this is truly the toughest part about Octatrack (project management).
I generally:

  1. copy patterns
  2. copy parts
  3. Load all the samples into the next set of slots
  4. spend 20 minutes fixing all the sample-locks

Thanks everyone…I was looking at Octa-Edit, which looks like it might have helped. I don’t think it is current though, too many OS updates for Windows/Apple? @Rusty is this still in dev?

I think we’ll have peace on earth and goodwill between all men before Octa-Edit is released. (not blaming Rusty, i’m just saying).

i once spent an entire evening copying 8 projects into a single project’s first 8 banks. It sucked and was repetitive as hell, but it made it possible to go through an entire gig without having to load each project.
