Question about scene change and a master keyboard

Hello!
I am kinda new in the Octatrack world. Despite the rumors, for me the manual is very understandable and English isn’t even my native language. Anyway, I can’t find a workaround for few things:

  1. Is it possible to jump to the next scene without waiting the end of the pattern? For example, my pattern scale of the scene 1 is set to 64/64, but I want to make sudden move to scene 2 in the middle of the pattern. How can I do it?

  2. I want to set a master MIDI keyboard to control internal sampler of OT and ALSO external synths. The problems is - when I hit some notes on the MIDI keyboard it controls various settings of OT ( switching the tracks, stoping and starting the sequence, etc). I know how to turn off incoming CC’s, but then I’m not able to play OT samples.
    Is there any solution for this? How do you, guys, deal with it?

Your question is a little confusing because you used the term “scene”. If you are asking “Is it possible to jump to the next pattern without waiting for the end of the pattern?” then the answer is yes, if you set up the Octatrack correctly. This may or may not work dynamically, which is what you seem to be asking.

You have probably seen already that there is a CHAIN AFTER setting in the PROJECT > CONTROL > SEQUENCER menu which sets the default behaviour for the Project. See page 37 of the manual. This setting can be customised for each pattern using the USE PAT SET.CHAIN BEHAVIOUR setting in the PATTERN SETTINGS menu. See pages 90 and 91 of the manual.

(If you truly mean “jump to the next scene”, a Scene can be selected or crossfaded to at any time using the Scene buttons and the crossfader. See page 62 of the manual.)

The best way to use a master MIDI keyboard to control the OT is to set its MIDI channel number to match the MIDI channel number assigned to the OT’s AUTO CHANNEL in the PROJECT > MIDI > CHANNELS menu. The function of the AUTO CHANNEL feature is described on page 43 of the manual.

If you use the AUTO CHANNEL feature, you only need to select the audio track or the MIDI sequencer track of the OT that you want to control, and the master keyboard will address that track automatically. The OT will respond to MIDI notes as described on page C-1 of the manual.

In general, for simplicity, you should set the MIDI channel numbers of the MIDI sequencer tracks to not overlap with the MIDI channel numbers of the audio tracks.
