I have a bass pattern/sample… with many different varations in patterns 1,2,34,5… all using track 1 for the bass the line… anyway to play and fiddle with the sound and mangle, but it will take effectt on all 5 patterns?
Yes. Assign all patterns to the same part.
Same part?
Yes. Parts. Octa manual, Page 59.
Every setting of every page of every track is saved in a “Part”. So if you want the same effects accross multiple patterns, those patterns all need to be assigned to the same Part.
I’ll add by default the 16 patterns of a bank are set to the same part (Part 1). Parts are saved with banks (4 parts per bank).
A bank change implies a part change : Part 1 / Bank 1 is different from Part 1 / Bank 2.
You can have 16 patterns max with the same part. You can copy / paste parts between banks or projects.
Do I have a different manual page 59 lfo main… found it page 52… still not working as it I want… I put dark reverb on T1… it doesn’t get added at to the samples on T2 to T8 basically I want to tweak and play with the reverb adding the same setting on all tracks
What do you want then?
Absolutely normal.
No way to apply all the fx settings to all tracks?
Possible to copy / paste fx pages (hold page button + copy / paste) but maybe you’d want to use an fx on all tracks?
You can set T8 in Master Track mode, FX1 and 2 being applied to all tracks.
Basically doing a simple guitar solo what if i pattern lock all the notes on T1… would it work that wat and apply effects to all?
I don’t get it. In original post you’re talking about patterns, now tracks…
Could you elaborate?
I’m sorry kinda new… I didn’t ask the question properly… now that I’m physically sitting in front of the OT I realized that
Is that okay I made that mistake?
Good point. More complicated if you’re in a swimming pool. ![]()
Sometimes at work I get bored and try to think of it ideas… this was case here I’m sorry
OT takes some getting used to it’s a bit more complicated then my MPC and S5000
You probably have an old version of the manual. You can get the latest version at Elektron’s website:
https://www.elektron.se/support/
Note that there are different manuals for OT MkI and OT MkII.
I manically laughed at that for a good 30 seconds. Thank you! ![]()
Honestly didn’t find it that fun… was very dry lol
Each track has 2 fx slots.
Theres also neighbour tracks to stack up effects (4 fx slots, 6 fx slots, 8 fx slots).
If you want control over effects you have on several different tracks (like when you want to crank up the reverb mix or delay send on tracks 1, 2 and 3 or something like that) use scenes.
Theres also the option to turn track 8 into a master track (Project menu -> Control -> Audio, then select 'Track 8 Master).
Now all tracks that go through the main outputs will go through the master effects.
(Sending tracks through cue outs is a way to exclude them from going through the master fx.
Or maybe you wanted to do something else…?
You can also use CUE out as a separate audio bus to apply the same FXs to just a few tracks.
Send whatever track(s) you want to CUE out (at the volume(s) you want). Then set up a recorder to record continuously from SRC3=CUE and a flex machine on a track to play back the record buffer of this recorder. Then add whatever FXs you want to this flex machine.
