PWM Malevolent

Must be why I like it. Pleasantville just isnt for me. Boxing up my moog as I type.

Its uniqueness and invitation to play definitely falls into its favour. It kind of reminds me of volca keys on massive steroids, not in sound but in how it goes all wonky, the modulation is just really unwieldy.

Yeah I like that.

Ever wanted to know what the actual fuck those oscillators are doing?

Short answer, they have kinks in them. Kinky waveforms.
I ran a vco through an oscilloscope.

Thanks for watching.
I might make one comparing the filter with my MS20.

Here you go. Malevolent filter, and MS20 filter. There’s subtitles if you turn them on… Not essential, but you might be interested. My MS20 is 45 years old, and doesn’t hold pitch, so I had to keep retriggering notes.
Excuse the noise floor, forgot to mute a channel on my mixer, couldn’t be bothered to do it again.

So you can hear very clearly the difference between the Malevolent and MS20. Malevolent is very angular. MS20 is more curvy. Both have slightly bonkers resonance, but in different ways. The malevolent has tons, but it breaks up and then disappears whereas the MS20 has a bump and then ooof it hits you.

Anyway. Oscilloscopes. Fun little thing to play with. They confirm what your ears already told you.
