Putting together an effects chain for my Digitakt

Hi guys,

I’m absolutely loving my Digitakt and I’m getting to a point where I could play live show with just the Digi + a synth. However, I feel like more effects would help things along nicely.

I want to use pedals for the form factor rather than rack effects.

So far, I would like:

A compressor. No ideas here. Would be cool if it had MIDI in if that’s a thing.

A saturation pedal (Strymon Deco? Analog Heat?)

An EQ of some sort.

What are people using as effects for their Digitakt? I have a budget of around £700.

Any help would be much appreciated!

ive used both the Deco & Heat on my elektrons. The heat is way better.
Now i just use my desks inputs to saturate my gear but the heat would be perferct for gigs if its just the DT youre using. (just a single stereo input on the heat innit).

If you get yourself a bunch of fx/pedals, you might also appreciate this nice little desktop patchbay for reorganising the fx chains.

The Heat looks really cool, I just wish it had a compressor built in.

I have an SP404SX which has a compressor, I haven’t had a chance to try that out with the Digitakt yet though.

Should I put it before or after the Analog Heat? (Assuming I buy one).

Well, i have been researching this a bunch and while the heat wounds great i haven’t been able justify it comparing it to a strymon deco. Apart from most reviews raving about the tape saturation and compression, it has killer flange/chorus/slap delay and great for tweaking breakdowns/transitions. Plus you saved 400 bucks that can go towards another great pedal. Or in my case i used that”extra” to sell the digitakt and get a mk1 rytm which i absolutely love more. I loved the digitakt but the rytm is more of everything. Sounds great. And it has compression. Built in that would affect your synth if plugged in to the audio in.

Not a pedal but the rnc compressor is small and sounds great.

Use its envelope follower.

been using a Vermona Retroverb Lancet for drive/distortion and creamy filter/LFO/env. follower/S & H effects. i couldn’t justify paying $700+ or whatever for an effects box (Analog Heat), and the Vermona is beautiful.

the deco’s saturation is lacking in low end (as you apply saturation the low end of the source disappears) where the heats low end is lush. that’s what I found when I owned em both, no contest. tho the price of the heat is tough to swallow Id agree.

also re: compressor, saturation naturally compresses the signal somewhat, and as mentioned above that along with the heats envelope follower can get the source seriously pumping.

Yeah i imagine the heat has to sound better. Hopefully the low end is not lost too much with low saturation on the deco (which is what i will be going for). Just ordered it this morning.

I first of all got the deco and put it on my MD. it defo has a nice li’l crunch to it so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I must admit I moved on from it to the heat pretty quick but it was nice to have that bit of tapey dirt on the master.
