yea it sounds i might do the same
I was eyeing the motu also
I am thinking i can set it up as adat until i run out of io
then hopefully the usb audio bugs will be cleared up and I can just switch
There’s a bug which makes the ADAT settings default to Internal Sync every time you reboot the Push 3. I’ve reported it three times and each new update says it’s fixed when it is not.
I am new to eurorack but have already like 30+ modules. I like to play around with it.
I recently bought a Push3 Controller and now I saw its easy working with eurorack if I buy Sleeper ES-10 module to use ADAT.
My question: mostly on youtube i see people using standalone with eurorack. Is it easy/possible to use laptop+ controller + eurorack. I guess yes … but want to be sure. I dont want standalone because the upgrade is 900 euro extra and for that money i can buy a decent laptop.
Drums/sampling/brain = push3 controller and synths mostly Eurorack.
Are you using the Push 3 Controller as your main audio interface? Expert Sleepers modules are probably more convenient to use on a computer than the Push 3 Standalone, and using it with the Push 3 Controller would basically be like any other computer + audio interface setup.
Another, slightly cheaper and slightly more flexible option for ADAT to CV is the Boredbrain Optx v2:
I use mine with Push 3 SA, but as long as the ADAT outputs work on the Push 3 controller, I would think it should work fine.
Thanks, I saw it also but ES10 (355 EURO) is cheaper than Optx ( 438 EURO).
I was waiting till Ableton put a more powerfull upgrade ( better cpu, more ssd, better battery(?) ) because current upgrade is for me only worth like max 400 EUR.
I hope this will end my gas … and give me more deskspace ( by selling some other gear because I can use plugins )
I’m not sure when they added this, but THANK YOU:
Just push the jogwheel to the right on your Packs page. Edit: or press the eighth top-row button with the “…” icon.
Question for people who bought their Push fairly recently: how do your jogwheels feel?
I finally made a warranty claim because my last unit had a dodgy encoder, and the replacement is running great! However, the new jogwheel feels much looser. This is Push number three for me (ugh), and the previous units’ jogwheels had very little play — they put up resistance basically as soon as you started turning, then clicked firmly into the next position. This one turns several degrees before offering any resistance, and seems to click more easily.
It still works fine, so I hope it’s within normal tolerance or even just a component change for later production runs. But if this isn’t in line with how other people’s jogwheels behave, I don’t want to risk needing yet another replacement down the line.
Here’s the amount of play it has compared to the Move, which feels similar to my past Pushes:
Honestly, that’s doesn’t look right. Mine has nothing like that amount of play. Hardly any infact.
Yeah that just looks wrong, mine barely has any.
BTW, how long do your Push peeps have to hold the turn on/off button to turn the Push on/off? Mine comes on/off when I barely touch it. I could’ve sworn that at first I had to hold it for a few second …
The turn on/off time had a delay of 3 seconds a time ago. But many users wanted a instant on/off, so Ableton removed the on/off delay in a later firmware.
@jrjulius That is looking too much distance, not good.
P3SA:
I’ve been loving using the XY control layout in combo with CC Control device and my Prophet 10 (desktop).
Mapped to simple stuff like cutoff, resonance and filter envelope makes it super expressive to play in the absence of a keyboard.
Next I’m gonna try expressive control and see if I can play the P10 MPE style with the pads (presumably I need to link expressive control to cc control somehow)
Can you do a “bounce to audio” type thing on a Push 3 midi loop like you can with MPC Live?
You can but it then plays the whole thing through on the P10 (understandably), so I just record it to an audio track because it’s not that much more of a time saver.
I should clarify - I would use the “bounce to audio” method if I had all the automation perfectly recorded on the midi already. In that event it would be a time saver.
But I usually like to record 3 or 4 passes, messing around with different modulation. Then after I finish recording, I find the 2 or 4 bars I like from the recorded audio. That’s why I don’t use the “bounce to audio” feature with the Prophet.
For the software synths (which sound just as good), I use bounce all the time.
While here, I figured I’d ask:
- Is there any way to know what key an expressive chord is in?
- Is there any way to change it?
Not from Push directly, unless I’m missing something major. Expressive Chords has good integration with the Push pads, but the controls are quite surface-level.
In Live, you can create chord sets by adding MIDI notes to a clip and loading it into Expressive Chords. And if you’re using Live 12.3, you can customize individual chords by clicking the green pencil.
Edit: as to what key it’s in, it’s not easy to tell. I’ve clicked through a few presets and they seem to be built around “satisfying chord progressions” rather than strictly staying in-key.
