Push 3 Users Thread

I’ll throw my voice in again and say this is my usual method as well. In fact, I keep MPE off unless I’m ready to play in a melody, harmony or pad, ands even then I don’t always turn it on.

yep, besides switching to and from MPE mode, there are pad settings that can be tweaked for the desired amount of finesses as well. Coming from guitar, you’ll probably have quite a bit of fun playing.

Anyone use one of these stands for a push 3?

Thinking of getting a Push 3 again, though Controller this time rather than SA.

Can I use the CV out with CV tools all the time? as in, if I use my own audio interface, can I still select the Push 3 CV out in CV tools for clock to modular?

You can if you create an aggregate device with Push and your Interface.

thanks. I had a feeling that may be the case. I’ve always tried not to go down that road, though thinking about it now, no idea why.

Does anyone know if the push 3 standalone has been fixed with modular and the latency when using modular with P3SA?

Getting back to basics on the Push 3 today:

What kind of latency issues were (are) you having? Clocking and gates/triggers?

Yeah I don’t have a push but I saw a video from Alx 106 where he shows latency issues and there is no way to add latency delay to help sync it. Is that still an issue?

Video:

I haven’t tried using clock w/ cv tools yet.

However… I get very good sync and even played one show with push clocking and sequencing my 7u case via an intelijel 1u midi interface that sent clock to a Pam’s Pro workout. Zero issues and I was playing beat driven 140bpm stuff.

I never use Push in Standalone unless playing out live.
When in the studio, I like the best of both worlds and I’m currently using the free plugin, Pam sync via my es-9 to send clock and start data to PPW.

Es-9 and push 3, that is a great mix.
My idea is I want to be able to use all the Individual outs on my model 1.4 sending ableton channels and my modular channels to different inputs on the mixer. With push 3 having a soundcard and es-9 being a soundcard do you have an issues with that?

For quite some time, I was using a A&H PX5 with ES-9 and the Push 3.

I was tired of latency issues from having an aggregate device set up with 2 interfaces.

My setup now is:
Boredbrain Xcelon + XP3 expander + Monitor + I/O + which often has the direct outputs wired to the es-9 inputs. I absolutely love this set up so far.
This mixing set up is great for me as it takes both modular and line level signals and having one interface has been wonderful for super solid clock going from ableton to my modular.

The es-9 is my only interface and I have the main outs going to my monitors.
I do not use the built in sound card on the Push 3 unless I play live (which I’ve only done once, lol), as that is the only time I use the Push 3 in standalone mode.

I was under the impression that P3S was not compatible with usb audio interfaces. Has that changed?

It is not in standalone mode (for now)
I use it with es-9 while in controller mode.
I’m really looking forward to the Boredbrain OPTX v2 which is a 10 hp Adat interface that will be released by the end of the year.

People who’ve sequenced Push 3 externally - I know I’ll want to set up a template for that on the computer, but I’ve never tried sequencing Live from something else so I’m in new territory here. I’ve recorded midi into it before when recording songs, but that’s more or less the extent of my use of midi in Live. Any gotchas or fiddly settings I’ll need to be aware of when sequencing? Anything that works on the desktop app but doesn’t work so smoothly on P3SA?

My goal currently is to use P3SA as a sample chopper/player, drum machine, and maybe occasionally use Meld or something, all sequenced via Cirklon. I know that sounds redundant because Ableton/Push is technically the most flexible sequencer I’ve ever used, but it’s an accessibility/ ergonomics issue for me (can’t use the pads for the forseeable future due to tendon issues).

No real advice but I had fun sequencing P3 with an Arturia Keystep Pro !

I’m actually sequencing the P3 with the Oxi One for the drums. just needed to config the delay on the midi preferences.

How are you guys liking sound design on Push 3?
Is designing on Push a pleasurable experience, or would you rather use your favorite hardware synth?
