What’s a good way to test it as soon as it arrives? I’m protected off eBay policy. Or maybe I could just cancel the order and find kne around town tomorrow.

Only 100 more provided I don’t use the SL later? Thoughts?

The main issue is the encoders skipping. The blofeld is a little slow dialing in sounds with the onboard encoders, so i think some of the complaints are from people not being comfortable with the slight delay. But just test and see if there is any obvious skipping.
Sequence it using your MNM, run the blofeld sound into your mnm inputs. Apply MNM affects. You just expanded your MNM to new sound territory with digital bliss.

Yeah. Maybe. I’m actually toying around with notion or replacing the MnM with the Blofeld. Replacing what I can with sound modules and doing all my sequencing from a central location(either a pyramid or MPC Live).

I had the newest os and most issues seemed fixed. So make sure you upgrade right away when you get it. Good purchase that synth is great!

We’ve been through this.

How many outputs does the Blofeld have? I think its a single stereo out. This can’t compare to a MnM. You’ll be trading in a vintage Jaguar for a Fiat. Keep the MnM best advice I can give you. If you want to rack it just get the rack ears for it.

yeh keep the mnm sir

The blofeld is a very capable synth but a lil tedous to program IMO. However, there are editors for it, even on iOS.

The SL licence gets discounted at least once a year, if your money is tight you might want to wait until the next sales…

As I mentioned in another thread, I had a Blofeld and a Virus TI at one time, the Virus TI got sold.

Personal taste of course, but the way you program the Blofeld, they way it’s sound design flows, seems to push me more towards trying something new and the more I get to know it, the more I like it.
It has something about it, it can sound extremely, almost clinically clean, or it can sound dirty and nasty.
It’s a truly versatile beast.
I admit that it is not to everyone’s taste and it can feel tedious sometimes…

maybe a bit too late as there’ve been already some replies but i’ll throw my 2cents in anyway: i would say…go for both :stuck_out_tongue:  …thing is, they’re two different machines (regardless of analog/digital)
i have a Blofeld, which i really like and although it’s a bit of menu diving (which well…more or less you’ve got to do that on other machines as well anyway…), once you get accustomed to the UI and how things work, i’m sure you will be pleased from the sounds you can get out of it (you can also layer sounds or play them separately on different channels, that’s 16  )
it surely isn’t one of the latest machines but having said that, well, i still think it’s a good one to have for the many/different design options you’ve the Pulse2, i don’t know much about it but have the original Pulse, which i like as well but different sounds from what you can get with the Blofeld. I had a chance to play with the Pulse2 a little bit and mmh, maybe i needed more time with it…i don’t know…but personally, i wouldn’t get one unless i really needed it…and as it has been mentioned in previous post: MM+Blofeld :astonished::grin:

It depends, if you want some serious deepness, then the Blo will serve you well, if you want some hard and as someone said more cold sound with a strange nasty distortion, then the Pulse2 is made for you.

I’ve got one some time ago and i sold it after three weeks… i thought that the Pulse2 is a good companion for the A4 in the bass-department but it somehow sounds wrong to my ears - i have no other expression for that.

Although more expensive and less deep (modulation-wise) in comparison to the Pulse2 the Moog fits in more perfect.

Are there any differences between the black or white Blowfeld’s?

I am working with a blofeld as my only synth now for a few months and I can recommend it if you look for a versitile VA with flexible and large modulation matrix (like the micron/miniak/ion), besides that and the reason I am keeping it and will not see a lot of sun this summer is the wavetables!
It is a great great great great great wavetable synthesizer, if anybody tells you otherwise, they are wrong.
Even without using my own wavetables, even with just 3 of the 68 wavetables (alt 1, alt 2 and Upperwaves), you can create character and unique patches!

The build quality is modern, so it’s a heavy tank with skipping encoders, a screen that tilts when you shake it and it can take hours to update the firmware. I love it to bits, bought mine beat up, scratched and filled with terrible patchwork. I erase them patch by patch as it’s very easy and rewarding to get a useful sound from scratch!

No.

I bought a black one but wish I’d bought a white one.

Why? What turns you on to the evolver more than the blofeld?

Remember Ryan if you start looking to get rid of it, I’d like it back.

I’m sold. I’m going to get the blofeld. Being that I sold off everything but my a4, md, keystep, and time factor; what’s the best midi controller to grasp as many controls off the matrix at one time? What do y’all typically use.

Ok black is limited edition. But I can’t decide black or white. Why should you go with white rather than what you did? I’d think it would show dirt and use more visibly.

Beatstep pro is a decent midi controller with midi out. No need for a usb converter.
