What is the advantage of getting the pulse 2 rather than pulling the trigger on the blofeld?
Why are you waiting for a pulse 2? Is it not already out?

I think pulse 2 is analog and is strong for basses and leads but it sounds “heartless” I think I’ve heard. The Blofeld is digital and I think you can get more parts from it. I’m looking for a blofeld myself for a good price
I’m looking for something I can turn to rather than the a4. Still missing my old trusty MnM (hint, hint).

There’s a guy on this forum that swears by the blofeld. Said he’d chose a blofeld over a MnM any day. I want to compare them both side by side and see if they work together of if one will go
had a Blofeld lots of years ago. was blasted away by it because it was so affordable. that was at a time where i had no money and simply didnt knew better 
today i can only say: its like an old VST in an old hardware. Period. Even xfer Serum already sounds better and much more powerful than that little box. I would rather get something more modern like a System-1 for example. Sounds a hell of a lot better! Pulse 2 can be great if you can live with the fact that it is mono (but can be played paraphonically)! Check out Nicks Review on Sonicstate, i think he showed it in the best light possible. And lets not forget: It has 3 Oscillators!!! Thats a real special at that price and not to be underestimated i guess.
The A4 is fantastic. It might come in waves, but right now more love is going to the A4 than the mnm right now, personally

The pulse2 does not have a whole lot of character or versatility. It does acid nice and being able to read patch names is nice. The sequencer is cool for acid arps if complicated to use.
I didn’t love the blofeld either though. The virus is better in every way.
I’ve had the Blofeld 3 different times. I’ll buy it and get tired of it sell it, miss it etc. I don’t think I’d buy it again though. It is really nice for sound design because of all the filter types and mod matrix. The fx are not so great, the encoders skipped on the first two I had, but the third one was fine. I think that’s all worked out now with a firmware update. The Pulse sounds nice if you can get one cheap enough, but I don’t think it’s nearly as deep as the Blofeld.

i never bought a Pulse 2. something was holding me back at that time, i dont know why 
i can remember Nicks review though and he says that its raw Oscillators are actually very nice, but the Filter doesnt have character. Did you knew that? Its arpeggiator even has probability steps early trig conditions, so to say

So even though these are a little dated, what would be a modern alternative that could be comparable, dsp or analog. All opinions welcomed. This is in addition to complement other Elektron gear of course.
Hypersynth Xenophone instead of the pulse 2 is one idea.
Ultranova comes to mind. But its also not that modern anymore. System1 of course - pretty modern, but no wavetables (unless Roland releases a Plug-Out capable of that). Virus, yeah, obviously - but pretty much dead because Access Music does not seem to exist anymore (only on paper and an outdated Website).
OP1, maybe?! Im not sure. Never had one, waaay too expensive in my opinion. But people seem to carve almost any kind of sound out of this thing
Apart from that, watch out for DIY stuff. Audiothingies Micromonsta is one that comes to mind. Started as a DIY, now its a more serious thing. Has Wavetables and stuff, Mod Matrix, lots of features actually. Seems to be quite capable but im only counting stats Dont have one either.
Scored a like new Blofeld a little while ago
Wanted some digital pads Waldorf style, used to have old Waldorf stuff, it’s nice to have that sound in such a small package
Sounds lovely to my ears, especially since most my gear is analog, refreshing…
Bass is great too

If you’re talking Blofeld and Pulse 2 - have you considered an Evolver? I"d rather have an Evolver over a Pulse 2 any day.

Since I’m fixing to swing a Blofeld myself, I’ve been following this thread as well. Others have mentioned that the Blofeld is dated, however I’m not hearing that at all. They’ve been throwing out more “up to date” synths, but none check the boxes like the Blofeld(and honestly none have the visual aesthetic of the Blofeld as well)

A decent alternative would be an iPad with nave and Thor. That would totally cover your bases for anything either synth can do. I will disagree with some here tho, the blofeld is awesome especially at the price. I often find myself regretting selling mine. I would certainly pick one up again before a pulse 2.

My blofeld sounds huge. Probably the best sounding synth I own, compliments the mnm very well.
