Imagine a chef that obsesses about fancy knives and never gets to cook much, let alone work at or open their dream restaurant. Or the lawyer who reads all law books ever, and never puts their law skills to good use.
There is nothing wrong with that. A person who obsesses about knives may better be suited in a career as a kitchen tool maker, and the lawyer may find their place as a professor of law.
But for those of us who want to actually make something with the skills that we have and have some creative footprint in the world, we owe it to ourselves to be disciplined enough to focus and drive ourselves there. I mean, a chef who has honed their skills could easily make an incredible meal with generic kitchen tools and cheap ingredients - this is a fact.
