More machines for the M:C would be dope but I have a hard time imagining Elektron developping new machines specifically for M:C when they could just backport any of the ones they have already made for the Syntakt.

But if we’re talking brand new machines I would love a Sid Machine aswell :smiley: think it would fit the character of the M:C pretty well.

For more obvious and universal updates for both Models: keyboard scale/fold, Sensitivity profiles for pads, Perf/lite-song mode, Attack control on FUNC+ main volume, maybe portamento (Ess said it was possible lol)…

Given that the flagships, the Digis, and the Models all got a price increase at the same time, I’d say the chances of this having anything to do with a firmware update for the Model:Cycles are somewhere between 0 and 0%.

Of course, I’d like a firmware update for the M:C, and I hope we get one at some point… but this price increase is as much a sign of it as a robin perching outside my window.

Wow, it is not a device worth $399. That’s a 60% price increase from the original price ($249 when I bought it). Like if moog changed the price of the grandmother to $1600. Not worth it anymore.

I will just leave this here.

I did not even know the original price was 249 dollars not 300… yes this is a crazy price increase considering the power handle disaster and no significant updates in years.

Not to beat a dead horse, but since this thread is no longer on topic, I’ll attempt it. I’m 99% certain that the “original” price was not $250. I got mine for $299 on launch day. I think there was a window of time where a promotional price of $250 was going around, but that was only a short period of time.

Gonna have to contradict you on that. More likely for them to create a unique machine. When it comes to sound at least, Elektron makes a noticeable effort to ensure each device doesn’t overlap. They wouldn’t wanna hurt sales of the Syntakt.

I don’t see them adding more than like 2 machines anyways considering the machine menu does not have that much space left.

Interestingly the M:C went up in price whereas the M:S went slightly down.

The M:C still seems to be fairly popular though, while the M:S just outdated and overpriced at this point … Might be why elektron are giving away some :smile:

You are correct. I think the issue is though $250 to $400 is approaching a different category of machine. And have they really added enough (or anything?) to justify such a hike. It was less than 2 years ago that it was at that $250 price…that’s a tough psychological barrier for people to get over, IMO, especially when there is a lot more viable competition in the $300 and below range these days.

The only significant update they added to the M:S is the sample lock feature but that was done super early into the release of the product.

At the moment the product is completely outclassed by the lofi-12 for half the price.

Hell for 400 - 450 euros you could get a second hand digitakt… The M:S price made it redundant.

The internet says US inflation is 15% from 2019 to 2023 so that accounts for around half of the 300 to 400 increase. The other could be due to parts prices going up more than inflation due to the shortage.

to be fair though if you need the elektron sequencer/workflow the lofi-12 won’t save you no matter how little it cost

You have compare the prices as both new or both used especially with the recent inflationary (at least partially) price hikes.

I will still pay the Elektron tax for the long-term support, build quality, sound, and sequencer. It’s an instrument not a spec sheet. I’m sure the lofi-12 is a steal and great for people on a very tight budget.
