Still rocking the PS4 Pro. Runs ER very well, although think I’ll enjoy the 4k when eventually upgrade. Not in a hurry tho!

You will love 4k, especially on a big screen. I recently treated myself to an upgrade to my 10+ year old 1080p TV - a Samsung Frame 55" I found surprisingly cheap on eBay. Combined with the PS5, it makes games an absolute experience to play! I was speedrunning Resident Evil 2 yesterday and my mate couldn’t take his eyes off the screen!

I ended up pre-ordering the PS5 Pro, so we’ll see how well that decision ages

I was able to get through on PlayStation Direct, and surprisingly after a 10 min wait placing the pre-order went smoothly. This is probably because the price and lack luster showing so far scared off 95% of the would be pre-orders

My prediction is that the PS5 Pro will do better than the PS4 Pro in the long run.

I’m getting my PS5 Pro tomorrow but have to admit that I’m less excited than I was a week ago. The CPU is a serious bottleneck, and many games are showing a 25%-ish improvement on games with an uncapped frame rate. Maybe the patches will improve, but I’m not expecting to be overly impressed when I go hands on. We’ll see…

Quick update…

I got my PS5 Pro and spent a good deal of time transferring files and setting it up. When doing regular stuff, the menus felt snappier to me, but maybe i’m just imagining things.

I then started Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, and started it over as I had only played it a few hours on the OG PS5 and I wanted to see if I’d notice any differences on the Pro. Good lord! This game looks CRAZY good! It felt ultra smooth too, and I played for about 45 min. I stopped to check the settings and my TV was showing it was in 120 FPS mode with VRR enabled (I have a 55” Samsung S95B OLED), it also showed that the game was currenty running at 90 FPS. I checked the in game settings and it’s using the Performance Pro mode.

Here’s the thing, I don’t even care to try any other modes or mess with it, I just want to play it!

So I wasn’t expecting to be impressed, but Ratchet on the PS5 Pro completely floored me, I just can’t believe how great it looks and feels to control. I’m really looking forward to playing more and getting all the golden bolts!

I’d heard a lot of doom and gloom about the pro, and I was feeling a bit down about it myself. All that went away with 1 game that looked and played significantly better on my same TV.

Happy I took the plunge, as YouTube videos really as misleading. In person, it hits hard if you have a decent TV.
