Prophet X from Sequential

congrats! you know there is this amazing CS80 library and more to be found @sequential forum?

also the goldbaby BLUEWave PPG lib is highly recommended (it’s on sale now and then )

by mixing and modulating different vintage synths on the PX one can create some amazing sounds

  1. like philroyjenkins recommended i also do.
  2. use pxtoolkit by lady gaia then it should be fine
    PXToolkit | Prophet X | ThinkerSnacks.com

( My Macbook isn’t letting me open it though;
“Mapping Utility” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. ’ )
just allow it in system-> security when trying to install

  1. i use a stick with the actual content to install (watch the correct PX#)
if there would be content installed before on the stick, it might re-install this, which means you might lose
    edits done after first installation.

This is all Prophet x, except drums (v-drum) One of the first songs I made when I got it. I just love that sax patch.
(Candy Dulfer cover)

Man you guys make me wanna buy a Prophet X! Great job everyone, the sounds you’re sharing here are all top notch!

I honestly haven’t had this big of a ‘this is the perfect synth for me’ reaction to any other synth, it’s like the perfect blend of palette and functionality.

For all the synths I have, or have had over the years, I’m amazed how little the Prophet X has appeared on my radar before getting it… I even had a first hand demo of it at Superbooth last year and the personal potential still didn’t register with me.
Believe it or not I was on the overhead/2nd camera duties for Starsky Carr filming this video… the video makes perfect sense to me now.

Ha funny.

But yeah man, this thing is a beast. Such a unique hybrid instrument that’s not quite like anything else out there.

It sounds amazing too, even at extreme and weird ranges / sample fm type stuff. That’s my “keeper” criteria.

It’s probably going to end up being my only Poly keyboard by the end of the year.

Is this new (PlugSE version of SoundTower ProphetX)? I could swear when I checked a few months back there was only the standalone editor!

https://www.soundtower.com/prophetx/

I have this one as well.

I thought I was using it incorrectly so I emailed them but they could not explain how to use it as I described.

It has its own built in “snapshots” type thing but it’s rather cumbersome to use.

Have you tried the “Program genetics” and “Morpher” functions in Soundtower? I was hoping they would be similar to the patch mutator on the Nord G2 which I use a lot.

Nah I have not. I deleted my other post because it was a bit too ranty…

… but when I use a vst editor for what I was trying to do, I want to see it as little as possible, ideally not at all. So I wouldn’t have really messed with that kind of feature even though I can see the appeal.

The Prophet X is officially discontinued. Buy now before they become unobtainium.

I just saw this so I stopped by to pay my respects. I’ve never owned one, but I thought it was a cool concept. RIP Prophet X.

I feel like I’ve just bought mine at the absolute wrong time…

But, if the prices nose dive I’ll probably get a second one.

Typical Sequential to just discontinue their synths. They could have continued this great instrument with an improved Prophet X 2 and a desktop version.

Ok they’re explaining why:
“With a heavy heart, we must announce that due to the unavailability of several key components, we’ll be waving goodbye to new Prophet X units after our current stock depletes.”

Shouldn’t it make the price go up as it becomes harder to obtain?

Man that is pretty disappointing to see, really wanted one but I don’t have the space sadly and wont for the foreseen future. Hope they design another sampler synth again.

Yeah I wonder a bit, I asked them a long while back and they were just like the board design of the X wont allow for a desktop design. I guess they must design the synths that get both with that idea from the get go.

Me too :grinning:

It is always a sad day when Sequential decides to put an end to one of their products.

It’s like the death scene in Old Yeller.

Circle of life, old products get disco’d so there is room for new ones.
