Until the 31 of may Propellerheads are giving this step sequencer away for free. It’s an “player” device for Reason and it kicks some serious *** imho.

Some of the features:

  • Individual track length
  • Individual track speed
  • Track slide (like micro timing for the entire track)
  • Playback (forward, backward, pendulum and random)
  • Pattern or track modifiers (alter, random and shift)
  • Step probability in %
  • Step repeats (ratcheting and flams)

When I first tried it with the DT I was bummed cause it didn’t seem like you could assign a different midi channel per lane, so there was no way to control the 8 drum tracks. However, after experimenting I discovered that you could set it up so that each lane could play a drum part on the DT by setting the notes C-2 to G-2. Using the random feature allows for some quick drum ideas / recording on the DT.
