I don’t think I’m available for testing inter project bank transfer at the moment, but looking forward to testing bank export and bank import.
hi - very. impressed with progress here - much respect!
i used the manager only to edit midi track CC assignments and midi channels, which I then copied from the first part to all parts in all banks.
when loading the project on the OT i also got ‘parse error’
i’m unsure of your procedure, but is it helpful if i share that file?
It definitely is more than a sample manager ^^
Although it’s a work in progress, progress is being made
Thanks for reporting the issue @tomes !
The part editor is still missing “input validation” atm, meaning it’s possible to set values that the OT won’t like, hence the parsing issue.
(Reason for that is I left work on “Parts Edition” in a quite un-polished state, seeing how most users were expecting Copy features and the like)
I’ll be working on that (along with adding proper widgets and so on) right after Copy Banks and Samples Management
Could you please send me your project in pm ? I’ll investigate anyways to confirm this lead
Teaser: major release coming up soon ![]()
New Release: Copy Banks with Samples (v0.36.0)
What’s new:
-
Improved Copy Bank now handles Samples automatically:
- Either only slots actively referenced, or all slots with samples
- Decide what to do with files: copy to project, reference form pool if possible, etc
- Decide what to do with Slot placement: keep same position (best effort) or just stack from 1st slot using empty slots
- Automatic slot remapping to Parts and Patterns sample locks
- Re-use audio files already present
-
Flex RAM calculation & display: FREE MEM added in Flex Sample Slots UI
-
Create new projects from Copy Destination modal
-
Improvement to “Copy Patterns” and “Copy Tracks”: can now select multiple destination banks (based on PR #4 by @Thysbe - thanks for contributing!
) -
Added keyboard shortcut to toggle Edit mode >
Ekey -
ot-tools-io update: 0.7.0 + Definitive fix for all ‘Checksum errors’ issues! > A big step making the app more reliable
User-guide has been updated to describe all this - I’m gonna update screenshots now
As always; testers, feedback and requests are welcome
Next on roadmap: Sample Slot Management features
Insta-DL
I’ve not started using the OT, but I have stashed lots of studio recordings in different banks that I can finish tracks with when it’s time. This software is going to be LIT to organize with, thank you cactus!
Another idea!!! @imacactus
In your DAW you have probably a lot of tracks… exporting stems per track and importing them into OT is a PITA.
What if you could merge multiple samples drag-and-drop-style towards tracks!
Workflow:
- Export stems per track from DAW
- Drag multiple samples in Octatrack sample manager
- Assign multiple samples to a desired track
- Apply changes
- One sample per track is generated and assigned to the track
I downloaded the new version (the first one I’ve used). This looks amazing!
A few initial reactions:
- Tempo should show the decimal place
- I don’t see any controls for the recording buffers.
- I don’t understand how to change the pattern length.
- In LFO designer I don’t see how to switch between the smoothed and discrete versions
- I’d love to be able to create a library of custom LFOs that I can easily paste into tracks
Use question:
- Do folks use this directly connected to the Octatrack or are you working with a Project on your computer that you move up to the OT?
Really looking forward to diving into this!
Sounds great for those of us producing in a DAW but wanting to keep the computer away from the stage.
Seems also like the Octa Manager is quite close to V 1.0
Well done @imacactus for all those implementations!
I would like to apply for the position of Octatrack Project Manager. My resumé speaks for itself, and it may even speak for others.
You can do both. On the OT, or on a location on a drive. Depends on how precious the project is I guess ![]()
Connected live to the CF card in USB disk mode works just fine ![]()
Good catch, I"ll add it
I’m working on that right now, it will be part of next release ![]()
It’s not possible atm (have a look to user guide for current - or soon to be released - features
You mean some kind of toggle/knee controle for rounding/eding the curves?
Added to backlog
Well I still have a lot in mind (you wouldn’t believe the size of roadmap/backlog
) but yeah it’s getting better every day
That part is quite clear to me
But I don’t quite understand that part
Could you please rephrase @rosiusyves ?
In any case, I’m working on ability to assign samples (from audio pool + directly from project) to slots atm
Ability to assign slots to static/flex machines will come next
Are you still looking for a logo? I could give it a few attempts now that I’m on maternity leave for a while, let us know!
Yes @ex the app needs a logo
or more precisely an icon to replace current default (Tauri) one:
It should be a PNG of 1024×1024px with RGBA transparency
Would be awesome if you can give it a shot, we can let everyone decide for it
Not as complicated as that. In the LFO designer if you hold the trig(s) and push the tempo button it switches between stepped and interpolation. I didn’t see how to enable/disable that — all of the values looked like they’d be smoothed.
You can see it in action here: https://youtu.be/zCRW1JWx4r4?si=7E84EnQOIUsBwbTc
xD I didn’t know about that !
Thanks I’ll have a look and see how something similar can be integrated
