Hello. I have an Octatrack mkI. It just happened to me, for second time, that after reloading a previously saved project, it just took the whole thing to its default settings, AKA blanc, including all parameters: 120 BPM, all static machines, no effects, no samples loaded, etc. Just after showing this announce: “some features of the current project couldn’t be loaded, still want to load the project. Yes/No”.
It just makes it extremely awkward to be avoiding to save, tweak and reload for the fear of loosing the project.
did anyone had this experience before or have a hint of what can be happening and how to avoid it?
I would appreciate some light upon this subject.
Hi, do you still have the original memory card perhaps? The one which came with the device? I think that this may be one of the symptoms that might indicate that a memory card failure is happening or imminent.
If you still have the original card which shows the OT logo, you may want to consider updating to sandisk or something else.
I don’t know if there is any potential to fix the current project status, maybe someone else has a suggestion for you.
Sorry for your situation. Very frustrating I’m sure.
Good luck
oh, no. I have a sandisk. got it with the OT when buying it second hand few years ago.
does it sound to you like a card failure, rather than a device issue?
I don’t have enough OT experience to tell you for sure, just that I’ve read similar on this forum at some point. If you have the sandisk, the card failure is less likely but data corruption and project corruption often lead back to the card.
@sezare56 is knowledgeable about Octatrack issues, hopefully he can stop by with an opinion on your situation. I don’t think you have an instance of device failure, but if things get worse (like if it starts to freeze or reset itself mid-session) then I might recommend trying a different card as it will not hurt and might make things better.

Yes. By itself, as new, with default parameters, as you described.
So yes, backups, SAVE AS NEW, good CF Card, format, defragmentation after a few years of writing / deleting, as you should do on a computer.
