Yep. So I did the standard procedure, back up my files before installing the new OS. Install the new OS. Factory reset. Then go and reinstall all my songs, kits, and sounds. Oops, nothing in said not to do this. Thing is, those old files do not conform to the new file structure. Try to make a new project and put all my old work in there. Nope. The new project gets all screwed up when I do that. No Kits, no sounds, MIDI control / tempo is whack, weird beeping noises. Oh yeah, and you cannot go back to an older OS. It seems I needed Install the new OS, then back up and then factory reset. That would have been a good thing to know.
What do you have in project #2?
Factory presets. Nothing of mine. I looked. What happened is that I jumped the gun on the backing up/factory reset. I needed to let the OS update take all my info and repackage it in the new format. Then back up my shit, and then factory reset and reinstall my shit.

If you have a backup from the previous OS you should be fine? This isn’t the case?
As I understand it, a factory reset will only reset slot 1 in the +drive so a factory reset might solve your problem?
btw, I think you can go back to an older OS so long as you restore the backup made prior to installing 1.1.

So you have a backup of your 1.06 stuff?
1.1 can read the 1.06 files just fine.
step 1: verify that your backup is not corrupted. open it in c6, what does the info field at the bottom say?
are there any “broken” kits/patterns/sounds etc? if everything is fine there, then
step 2: create a new project on the AF, enable USB in GLOBAL, then send the backup. it should be fine!
unless you forgot to save your kits before doing the backup. your sounds will be in the sound pool, make sure you understand the difference between the pool and the +drive in the sound browser/manager…
No evidence of corruption, lots of strange things going on. For example, after retro installing 1.06, reinstalling the my back ups from that that OS, and confirming that everything was working fine in that configuration I reinstalled OS 1.1B. Guess what? My kits were there! But they were in the Presets project not in “New Project” or whatever it should be. You know what else is weird? The project I made and named last night is there too, but empty (which it should be because I did not make any changes or make any sounds. Then I do a Reset and the the Preset Project has all the factory stuff and none of mine. I just want to make sounds. Sigh.
sounds like everything should work fine then if you do step 2 outlined above…
make a new project and send the backup to it!
i wouldn’t use project slot 1, because this is reserved for the factory stuff…
